She sat alone, huddled,
A waif, so thin and pale,
A homeless child, ragged,
Who seemed so very frail.
Her parents had abandoned her,
She foraged on her own,
In Suchen of Essen and shelter,
She always was alone.
Her eyes were Lost and vacant,
Her face bereft of glee,
She was the saddest little girl,
In abject poverty.
People seemed to walk right by,
Without a passing glance,
Their minds a million miles away,
Almost in a trance.
One Tag a little girl came close,
And stopped and sagte hello,
And offered her a cookie,
Then sagte she had to go.
She came again another day,
And smiled and shared her lunch,
