Why don't I like Stefan Salvatore? Here's 3 reasons

Well, for one he lied to Elena ever since they met. And I know he was a vampire and all but he was going to have to tell her at some point. “There are things that Du don’t know. Things that I want to tell Du but I can’t. And I may never be able to.” So was he just gonna keep his vampire secret a secret forever? That’s kinda hard to hide from a person who Du are in a relationship with, especially Elena who can tell when you’re hiding something from her and will do whatever it takes to find out the truth. To quote Matt: “She’s big on trust man. Whatever you’re hiding from her, whatever Du don’t want her to know she’s only gonna wanna know even more. And she won’t stop until she finds out what it is.”

Now when Elena figured out Stefan’s secret, did Stefan tell her the truth? Of course he did. He was caught and he had to come clean with it oder else he’ll lose Elena’s trust even more. This is what I do not like about him. He only tells the truth when he’s backed into a corner aka getting caught in the lie. For example when Elena found out about Katherine looking like her, Stefan could tell that he was about to lose her so he had to come clean with everything just to regain her trust. He couldn’t lie to her anymore because Elena will find out the truth and that will bite him in the arsch later on.

Now onto my biggest pet peeve with Stefan. He says he loves Elena right? He says all these things to her to make her happy but at the end of the day, his Liebe for her isn’t as strong as people may think it is. I read in a post saying that Stefan respects/vaules human life. Really? I sure don’t remember seeing him trying to change Elena’s mind about her dying just so everyone can live. He just shrugged his shoulders when questioned about it. Who does that? Say what Du want about Damon. Call him an abuser, rapist, etc. But if there’s one good thing about Damon it’s that he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the people he loves, even if they end up hating him in the aftermath. He might have gone about saving Elena’s life the wrong way but his herz was in the right place. He loves Elena so much that he can’t bär to lose her. And I’ll even say that he loves Elena Mehr then Stefan. Deny it if Du want but it’s true. If Stefan really loved Elena as much as he says he does then he wouldn’t have been so willing to let her die. It’s the same thing as letting a person commit sucide. I sure hope none of Du would let your friend take their own life just because it’s their choice. It may be their choice but Du have a choice to step in and tell them to stop and reason with them. That’s what Elena did with Stefan in 1x20. Stefan was going to burn in the sun but Elena didn’t have that. She talked to him, REASONED with him, and made him think clearly again. She “disrespected” his wishes to die like Damon did with Elena. So tell me why Elena got no hate for saving Stefan while Damon got hated on for trying to save Elena? Double standards maybe? I understand that his methods were different then Elena’s but they did the exact same thing. They stopped/tried to stop the people they Liebe die. I just wish Stefan could have done the same with Elena, but instead when his brother was dying he did everything in his power to save him even though he told Stefan HE WANTED TO DIE. So again I ask why Damon gets hated on for disrespecting Elena’s wishes to die while Stefan did the same thing with his brother?

Another reason why I do not like Stefan. When Klaus came to take Elena away he just closed his eyes and ALLOWED Klaus to take her! I understand that Klaus would have killed Stefan if he would have fought back but isn’t doing SOMETHING to save/protect the one Du Liebe better then doing nothing and letting them get killed? He could have grabbed something wooden and stake Klaus. Even though it woulldn’t have killed him it would give Stefan enough time to escape with Elena and go to her house where Klaus couldn’t come in. Remember when Damon staked Elijah? He was left imoblilzed for a good couple hours before he could Bewegen again. But closing his eyes and letting Klaus take Elena? I’ll never understand it.

I could go on with reasons why I do not like Stefan, but I think I’ve gegeben enough vaild points. :)

Bynamearose I won't respond with much length simply because Stefan-hate is pretty common in this fandom, and fighting it is often like sitting in traffic; you feel useless because no matter what reasons you may have, nothings moving or changing, hence the frustration. He wasn't Edward Cullen, trying to force to see what he is because - let's face it - any normal person would run screaming from the idea. So, he let Elena get to know him. Maybe he planned to tell her in the future, and just felt like she needed to know who he was before she judged him based on his...well, his species, odd as it may sound. Stefan was wrong to keep the things he did from her, but most of the revelations that came to Elena were difficulties that not even Damon decided to bring up (as a friend). It's a difficult situation, but since Elena found out the danger she might be in with Katherine (and vampire co.), Stefan has been relatively honest. To say that we have a difference in opinion is the understatement of the century. Stefan spends the episode trying to convince her that she's making the wrong choice, and that, yes, he's upset with her. Does he eventually choose to let her trust Elijah? Yes, but that does not equate him agreeing with her going off to die – or, at the least, going off to die without her coming back. Hence, Damon's blood in her system being Elena's saving grace rather than Elijah's elixir. [i]“So tell me why Elena got no hate for saving Stefan while Damon got hated on for trying to save Elena? I understand that his methods were different then Elena’s but they did the exact same thing.”[/i] One of the reasons people disliked Damon's methods were that A) he made it clear that he didn't care who he had to let die (her friends, for example) in order to save her and B) his “methods” involved feeding her his blood – which even [i]he[/i] regretted later. Do I think his methods were more practical? Yes, of course. But Stefan was too focused on morality, hence Damon brought up the fact that he would be the one to save her and not Stefan. I'd also like to point out that Elena just talked Stefan down; she let him make the choice to keep living, and did not (could not) force him into putting his ring back on. That's why Elena didn't get the same fan-backlash as Damon's methods did. I'd like to add that, while I think your arguments are well thought out, I disagree whole-heartedly. I love both brothers, and their differences in personality and methods are what define them. Just because they're different does not meant one is better or worse than the other.

lilikhoshaba ok i now have 3 reasons to tell you that you 3 reasons are wrong :) Number 1. Stefan only kept it a secret from her because he knew that if he told her she could be in danger for what she knows and clearly after she starts getting in danger from other vampires. and he comes clean to her because he dosnt want to lie to her but if telling her gets her in danger then he wont. and the thing about katherine is to him it didnt matter he loves elena and he didnt want her to feel sad and think he only liked her because she looked like katherine. Stefan loves her so much that he is willing to let her make her own discussions and Stefan is obviously going to miss her and loves her but would you rather be alive and all your loved ones dead. or die and know that you protected the people you love and that they are now safe?? and Damon dosnt protect the ones he loves he thinks hes protecting elena and putting everyone she cares about in danger so he can still have her. Like no. And the thing when elena saved stefan is different. He did that out of guilt so it is okay to stop him because no one will be in danger if hes still alive. But the thing with elena is that if he lives someone else has to die. And damon gets the hate because what he does is selfish yes he wants to save her and that's nice but that's it. he dosnt think about how she will feel or what happens to others. Number 3. Did you even watch the whole episode. he let her go because there was no reason for him to die too. she was going to live because they did that spell that would take johns life and protects elena ( and yes elenas DAD had to die because damon gave elena vampire blood even if she never wanted to be one ) so she was going to live anyways and she did . S o those are my reasons on why your reasons are WRONG

I am so worried about my girl!! Elena Gilbert never wanted to be a vampire; she wanted a human life with children and then died in peace. Her Father, Grayson Gilbert was a conceal member. Yes, she loves Stefan and Damon, but she didn’t want to become a vampire :( Elena is such an inspiration for me as a human, after all she went through, she was still so strong and kind, caring, selfless and loving… Now, that she is not human anymore, I’m afraid she will become like Katherine, who was a good person when she was human, when she was Katarina Petrova.
Katherine Pierce is a thoroughly different “person”. Why makes her a vampire now? Why? I know that she will be one, sooner oder later to be with one of the brothers but I didn’t expect so soon! I just hope she will still be as kind as she used to be!
Don’t take me wrong, I Liebe Katherine but I do not want Elena to turn off her humanity!!

First off; if Du haven't seen 1912 this is your spoiler alert. This is an Artikel about the character development and events within the episode. Du have been warned :)

This episodes was fantastic. Not only a flashback, which we haven't had in awhile. But it completely broke off from the regular story line. A focus on the Salvatore's together-with very little Elena. Matt and Elena have some real bonding time. While Alaric has the Tag from hell.
