"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will see the reunion of Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, as various reports claim that the The CW series is coming to an end. In a recent interview with Julie Plec, the series creator revealed that Dobrev will definitely return in the series finale. Will she return as Elena or as Katherine?

The most awaited reunion between Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may finally take place on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Rumor has it that the upcoming season of The CW drama will serve as its series finale given the continuous drop in ratings along with the departure of Kat Graham and Somerhalder.

In a recent interview with TVLine, series creator Julie Plec confirmed that the 27-year-old actress will be returning to the series finale of "TVD." Plec shared that she has worked on this with Dobrev and will stick to their plan when she left the show in Season 6.

"So I\'m sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end," Plec said.

Fans were given a glimpse into Dobrev\'s return when she did a short voiceover for the season 6 finale. With "The Vampire Diaries" rumored to be coming to an end in Season 8, many fans are hoping that Dobrev will return as Elena Gilbert to save Damon from his killing spree.

Hypable notes on the possibility that Dobrev will return as both Elena and Katherine in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. It might be interesting to see what happened to Katherine and she may also help Damon and Stefan battle with the mystery creature hidden inside the vault.
