The Office Pickett Line?

Im really confused. What does it mean when somone will not cross a pickett line? Cause they said that alot of the cast members will "not cross a pickett line". And when they refused to show up for work, does that mean that they are for or against the strike?

For. They won't cross the picket lines to go into work, meaning they stay behind the lines and support the writers. Its more like a metaphor, though. It usually just means that the people aren't working in support of the writers.
