Okay. So in class the other Tag we learned about this structure that a lot of the old myths and classics that involved "heroes" would use, and as we were learning about it, IT FIT PJO PERFECTLY. So I was thinking I'd copy it onto here so if any of Du are thinking about Schreiben a fanfic and needed somee guidance.. I put examples from PJO in parentheses, but this model can be seen in LOTS of other stories as well (HP, the Matrix...) well, here it is!:D
PHASE ONE: Separation
-The Call: An opportunity to face the unknown, the hero chooses it oder is dragged into it unwillingly. (e.g. When Percy is at the museum, on vacation, fighting the minotaur... basically the beginning of TLT)
-The Herald: Encourages the hero to respond to the call. (Chiron as Mr. Brunner telling Percy he would need to answer his question, preparing Percy for the quest..)
The Threshold: The springboard for adventure (When Percy enters CHB, oder when he is granted a quest)
Guardians: Protect the hero from things he is not ready for and point the way. (Chiron, maybe Annabeth. Both protect Percy from the knowledge of the Titans possibly resurrecting, also protect him from hearing the prophecy)
Helpers: Provide the hero with direction. (Obviously, Grover and Annabeth, but in later Bücher could also be other quest-mates)
Mentors: Keep the hero focused on his goal. (Annabeth keeping Percy focused while he's on quests, Chrion keeping him focued when he is at CHB)
PHASE TWO: Initiation
Rite of Passage (When Percy fights the minotaur, oder when he fights the Furies on the bus)
Challenges: journey outward oder inward, face temptations, discover who is a helper and who is a tempter. (Basically, the entire quest up until they reach LA, they are journeying [duh], temptation at Lotus Casino, Ares is a tempter, Annabeth and Grover are true friends)
The Abyss: Greatest challenge of the journe, facing a fear, hero may want to give up. (When Percy meets Hades- Fear that it was never Hades to begin with, Hades has his mom, he can't save her. Possibly when Luke betrays him)
PHASE THREE: Transformation
Death and Rebirth: Hero may literally die, oder experience a reversal of attitude, fear to courage, ignorance to enlightenment (Percy becomes braver, willing to let his mom fight her own battles, Mehr confident in himself, though of course, he never actually dies)
The Revelation: New Insight oder enlightenment (Percy discovers Luke is a traitor.. though this one is not as clear)
The Atonement: The imbalance which sent the hero into the journey has been harmonized (Percy returns Zeus's master bolt, comes to terms with his dad)
PHASE FOUR: Return
The Gift: New level of skill oder knowledge, share with community, willing to suffer oder die for it, new confdence, perception, rights and responsibilities. (Percy has a greater connection to camp, Mehr accepted, willing to protect his riends with his life, Mehr mature)
OKAY. phew. that was long. Anyways, as Du probably noticed, the examples are not in chronological order, so its not like this is a set-in-stone model. In fact, there is no need to follow this at all... whatsoever.. Just an example of the model used often Von authors to describe the Hero's Journey

Why does every one think Reyna is a b**ch? I mean annabeth was just like her when we were first introduced to HER!! she seemed uptight and unaccepting too but now look..... Reyna's just has a bad life! She's Praetor for gods' sake.. she needs to present her self in a certain way... everyone needs to look up to her! she has to be and example to everyone aat camp! and to those of Du who say that JasonXReyna is wrong and jason should be with piper, well think about it this way... if it were reversed and rick riordan had written about the roman camp, Jason would be like percy, reyna, like annabeth and piper like Rachel!
and we would be saying things like this about ANNABETH AND PERCY FOR GODS' SAKE!! THAT AS WRONG AS KILLING PUPPIES!!
