George Martin is a producer. Brian Epstein was a manager. Tony Sheridan was a solo singer. The only 2 you can pick from were Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe. They both were actually in the band. But, from I've read, Stuart was only in the band because he was John's friend. He really couldn't play and would turn his back
to the crowd so they wouldn't notice.

Being the 5th Beatle isn't a matter of actually being in the band. There is no 5th Beatle, that's the joke. But over the years people have called many different people "the 5th Beatle", the ones on this list being the most prominent and close to the band.

it has to be Stuart Sutcliffe because of him and his german bird the beetles got there image this was all when they lived in hamburg, plus he was the original bassest
you can actually see Stuart's art in art museums around the world.

Since you know so much about this topic, would you care to explain for us how the expression "Fifth Beatle" came about since apparently it's no job and so Bob Spitz got it all wrong in his book "The Beatles." So please, explain for us if you may.

well yes he did get it wrong....
original it was Stuart's and Johns bad. This happened after he sold a painting then bought a bass.
after this they moved to Germany and just after Stuart left the band he died of a brain hemorrhage. shortly after this pete best left after there first tour and ringo joined for which ever band he was playing at at the time.
without stuart the beatles wounld't have there edge or style which became so iconic.

ok, well I'd like to say this once and for all, the term "Fifth Beatle" wasn't actually coined about the actual fifth member of the Beatles (which I guess in this case would be Stu, although you'd probably have to include earlier members too then). Now, if you want Stu to be the Fifth Beatle, be my guest.

omg.. that is a really hard pick. i choose stuart because he quit the band, they liked him being in it, just he quit... so if he didn't he would have still been in it and there for been the 5th beatle? haha

Neil Aspinall did a lot of good work on the albums, but never got much credit.

George Martin was a genius, he wrote a lot of stuff that they used in their songs.

George Martin's contribution to Beatlemusic was immense... they couldn't have had a better producer, and their songs wouldn't have sounded the same without him... but only the Beatles were the Beatles... John, Paul, George, Ringo... period...

Definitly George Martin. He was a major part of their songs behind the scences. He was the conductor for the orcastra for their songs with such in them, and he played oboe or clarinet I forget. He was the 5th beatle...Along with me of course...lol.

George Martin was a huge part in the Beatles success and music. He even played piano on some of their songs! So I think it's safe to say that George Martin was almost a fifth Beatle.
I will NEVER EVER say that Yoko Ono was the fifth Beatle! NEVER!

It is a combination of Brian Epstein and George Martin. Without Brian, the Beatles probably would not have received the huge success they did. George Martin took the Beatles' great songs, added a little George Martin magic, and made them LEGENDARY!!!

It's as simple as that because they were actually members of the Beatles, not Brian Epstein, George Martin, etc
