Beyond this Summer with the crew of the USS Enterprise?

Star Trek universe Chris Pine\'s \'Captain James T. Kirk\' and fellow Starfleet explorers set out to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Star Trek movies, J.J. Abrams shifted his focus to a galaxy far, far away in the Star Wars universe, leaving Fast & Furious director Justin Lin to take the helm of the Star Trek film franchise into uncharted territory.

This time on their outer space mission the

Starship Enterprise is attacked by a deadly new threat (led by Idris Elba\'s \'Krall\') and scattered across a remote alien plant.

Captain Kirk must team up with Sofia Boutella\'s extraterrestrial \'Jaylah\' to help reunite and rescue \'Spock\', \'Scotty\', \'Uhura\', \'Sulu\', \'Chekov\', \'Bones\' and the rest of his stranded shipmates.

\'Beyond\' teaser billboards, without the Star Trek branding, were first spotted along the Sunset Strip and Melrose Avenue from June 13, whilst the multiple crew headshot creatives beamed down in a second wave around June 22, 2016.

Star Trek: Beyond logo billboards were snapped from June 30 to July 9 along Fountain and La Brea Avenues, plus the special extension for Rihanna\'s Sledgehammer single from the film\'s soundtrack was photographed along the Sunset Strip in Paramount Pictures usual ad location on July 1, 2016.

Getting this sequel to the big screens has not been without its bumps along the spaceways.

Fan reaction to the high-octane action initial trailers was mixed with many feeling that this wasn\'t the

Star Trek they remembered, plus the tragic real-life accidental death of Anton Yelchin (who plays Chekov) was a real shock.

Sulu actor George Takei was also unimpressed by the decision to make John Cho\'s version of his character gay, professing that it wasn\'t Gene Roddenberry\'s vision for the character and that it would be better if an entirely new LGBT character was introduced to Star Trek.
