Stalker – Season 1 Episode 3 – Manhung
A beautiful wedding is taking place. Just as the bride approaches her bride, she gets shot in the head. When Beth and Jack arrive, Jack finds out the woman shot was the daughter of a cop. Carol Lambert is the victim, and her ex-boyfriend decided to stalk her when she left him, not liking the fact that she left him to date women.
At the hospital, Carol’s father is very upset with Beth, blaming her for not protecting Carol enough. He insists it was her ex-boyfriend, but her girlfriend/fiancée said someone was following her last week. At the station, Jack watches video of the ex-boyfriend, Paul, and Carol from when Paul first started stalking her.
Detective Caldwell has done an analysis on Paul and doesn’t think it’s him – it just doesn’t make sense. Beth tells them to locate Paul, and they find him in a hotel. We see a shotgun in his room, and he runs from Jack and Beth. They catch up to him and he insists he didn’t do it. At questioning, Amanda is present and Paul says he doesn’t need a lawyer.
When asked why he was at the wedding, he first denies it, but then admits he was going to apologize to her. He just wanted to wish her well. Ben, Janice, and Amanda are watching the interview and aren’t sure he’s responsible.
Amanda tells the chief she can build a case against Paul with what they have, but Jack doesn’t think Paul’s the guy. Jack describes what the guy is like, and that he doesn’t think the guy is done.
A man is walking down a dark street. A little boy is playing in his house, and the man enters the house, undetected. He sneaks through the house and hides in the boy’s mother’s closet with a large bowie knife. Just as she is about to open the door to the closet, the son calls the mother.
Jack is not making friends in his department. Janice talks to a woman who knew a man named Jesse, who was killed by the same gun that killed her friend Jesse. The woman tells Janice Jesse knew Carol’s father, Jimmy. Jimmy made friends with him after he arrested him, and it looks like Jimmy was the common denominator.
After asking Jimmy about his family, Beth asks where his partner, Frank is. Jimmy says Frank just left, and his phone goes to voicemail. Frank arrives home, and he’s the father of the young boy from before. Frank goes into his bedroom and the man is still in the closet, waiting for him. Just then, Frank’s son comes into the room and Frank gives him a piggyback ride.
Beth and Jack show up and the house and quietly get the family out of the house. Jack checks the bedroom, but when he opens the closet, the man isn’t in there. Just as Jack turns around, the man attacks him and stabs him. Beth sends officers after him. At the station, Jack tells Jimmy about the attacker.
Sitting in Jimmy’s office, Jack notices the three photos Jimmy has out. In the photos are Jesse, Frank, and Carol. Jack thinks they are looking for a cop. Jimmy thinks it’s Silas Martin, an officer Jimmy fired two years ago. At Martin’s home, they find his anxiety medication and a wall covered in papers targeting Jimmy. They also find plenty of guns and bullets to start a small war.
The team finds a video Martin took of himself blaming Jimmy for him losing everything. He says his final act will be to reveal what a liar Jimmy is. Jimmy is at the hospital with Carol, and Martin is there also. Martin gets a doctor’s uniform and finds Jimmy in the chapel. Martin grabs Jimmy, but doesn’t kill him.
Jack and Beth take teams through the hospital. They can’t find Jimmy or Martin anywhere. Martin was fired for shooting a kid, and he asks Jimmy where the kid’s gun was. He insists the kid had a gun and was going to shoot him. Jack finds them and has to shoot Martin. Martin goes down, and Jack calls for back up.
Jack turns around and Martin is behind him. Martin attacks Jack and almost has the upper hand. Jack manages to shoot Martin and kill him. Carol has been put in a coma to recover, and Jimmy and her fiancée are hopeful she’ll get better.
At the precinct, Jack again asks Amanda if he can see their son. She says he’s too late and to not bring it up again. Beth asks Jack what the deal is between him and Amanda, and he says nothing is going on. She tells him to fix it. Jack asks her to eat, but she says no. He tells Beth he knows she’s upset that his transfer was pushed on her, and she tells him he wasn’t even in her top 20.
Jack is outside of Amanda’s house looking in the window, watching his son. Amanda briefly sees him, and sends her boyfriend outside to see who it is. Jack almost got caught.
