Why doesn't Sonic use the Super Emeralds anymore?

I mean, Hyper Sonic kicked ass. Why wouldn't he keep doing that?

According to Takashi Lizuka, the Super Emeralds were added as a bonus feature in Sonic 3 & Knuckles so that people who had already collected the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 3 would have Mehr emeralds to collect when they locked on to Sonic & Knuckles. He then sagte that the decision was made to remove the Super Emeralds so as to keep the number of emeralds in the series at a consistent and controllable number.
