I've been asking myself that Frage for quite some time. I think Severus would have been between a rock and a hard place. Caught between his hate of the boy (motivated Von Mehr than just being a Gryffindor, as Bri so rightly said), and his faithfulness to his House and its members (for example his blatant Slytherin favoritism).

His position would have been especially hard with the other Todesser and subsequently, the Dark Lord. How to Zeigen support to Slytherin and to Voldemort while having to favor a Slytherin Harry, despite the boy's hatred of Todesser and Voldemort ? Add to this the fact that Severus had to protect the boy too...

Severus should thank Harry for resisting the Sorting Hat that had wanted to send him to Slytherin in the first place.

House Points to you, and I'll add that the irony of the daft Sorting Hat wanting to send Harry to Slytherin was largely due to the fragment of Voldemort living inside Harry. Heh.

LOL draft the points to Slytherin. I like your explanation but sometimes, I wonder. Harry does really act like a Slytherin sometimes but for the "good cause", in occasions when he needs it to advance his agenda (see with getting Slughorn's memory). I don't think that his behavior then is directly influenced Von the piece of Voldy's soul in him. He's pretty much like Albus and Severus : they have the qualities of both houses.

Well, I did say **largely**. I'm not denying Harry had some minor Slytherin traits, but I feel that for the most part Harry is totally Gryffindor.

I don't think there would be too big a difference between how he would treat Slytherin!Harry. There was Mehr to his animosity than just Harry being a Gryffindor -- James, Lily, Voldemort. All those people played a pretty big role in influencing Severus feelings (and behavior) towards Harry. And all that would still be there, regardless of whatever house he was in.
