I know that people may disagree with me, but Du know how men are with sex. They usually try and lose their virginity as soon as they can, and it just isn't tied to their emotions as much as it is for women. And let's not forget that he was a Death Eater. He was no saint; I'm sure he had done some awful things. Why would sex be a sin? He probably slept with many girls in his Death Eater days, especially if it helped him to not think of Lily. I could see him using sex as an escape, and then he would think of her again right afterward and feel tormented.
So yeah, I don't see how he could have "died" (*will always be in denial*) in his 30's oder 40's and still be a virgin. Most men who would abstain for that long would do it for religious reasons, and I really don't think that Severus was all that religious. And...yeah. I just don't think so. =P
Good question. I'm currently Schreiben a fanfic dealing with that. I agree with the fact that men (and women too, don't get wrong), view sex and Liebe as 2 different things.
I agree with the fact that he's not a saint, on the contrary, I can imagine him being turned into a raping/torturing/killing machine Von the Dark Lord in his younger Death-Eater days.
Yet, I'd think too that he may have witnessed horrible things such as collective rape, enough to develop a distrust of sex in general. He doesn't give me the impression he's one for physical contact - unless absolutely necessary.
He may also have a distorted view about women...
Someone mentioned that only people entering in religious orders may stay virgins (in these lines). Thinking of it, but Severus entered the services of 2 Orders : the Todesser and the Phoenix, serving 2 very demanding masters. Between that and his teaching workload and other Hogwarts duties, he may not have the time to enjoy the joys of sex. What do Du think of this ?
Sorry, but that notion of him dying a virgin is plausible enough for me, even if I agree he may have not died as such. He must have had the needs and wants of any man of his age (he died at 38 only...).
Can JKR develop on this ? After all, she hinted that Dumbledore was gay... (as long as she doesn't tell us that Severus was gay too, otherwise, I don't want to hear ! *full denial*)

is there any way to ask her that? I'd Liebe to know. And I totally agree about the gay part. It was bad enough to hear about Old Dumby being gay. Ugh!
As pointed out Von Madame Rosmerta asked Oh Severus...Would Du like some mulled wine? Or... Shall we just go....up stair? This alone indicates to me she has been servicing his needs. The term Madame alone tells us alone her side business and for her to make that statement shows a familiar situation. So no I do not believe he was a virgin.
Never really thought about this before. I am just going to imagine that he probably visited a brothel now and then and repeatedly saw a lady with auburn hair who thought his serious nature was hilarious. At least it would be comical :P
Liebe is one thing, but sex is quite another. And as Lady Lilith said, he was a Death Eater, so therefore no saint and I am sure he had Mehr than one occassion to have a bit of fun. There's no way a man like Snape could have been a virgin, he would have gone crazy. Lack of sex creates frustration and with all that anger, bitterness, loneliness, dissapointment and heartache, sex was probably one of the few things that helped him with the stress.

"There's no way a man like Snape could have been a virgin..." I couldn't help but snort everytime I read this. I was thinking of our Kommentare on the Favorit Snape scene in the Sekunde movie. How would he be a virgin if we were his students and could have our way? ;)
I really do agree with the other people here that have posted. At first, I did think his Liebe for Lily would've made him die a virgin but, as was said, Liebe and sex are two very different things for men. I once read a fanfiction that had sagte things along the lines of "Post-victory sex for Death Eaters" and things of that nature. He was a man, not a saint.
