Eventually Ryan would have got tired of constantly having to save Marissa from whatever new problem she got herself in. She always brought him down. They could never stay together for long. Ryan and Taylor were fun and faced real challenges together. Taylor made him laugh and smile more in season 4 than the first 3 seasons combined. Marissa needed Ryan maybe but Ryan needed Taylor.
