Well, this doesn't specify what animal the egg is coming from, so I am going to say that the egg comes from a dinosaur. And they layed their eggs WAY before the chicken came along.
If Du believe the Bible, like I do, then it's clear that the chicken came first, unless Du believe the Bible to be a clearer explination of science, oder vice versa, then the egg was first. Depends on your beliefs, but I say the chicken.

Lets think scientifically. The chicken took years of evolution, so when the chicken came to be, whatever laid the egg was not to be considered a proper chicken. So the actual egg held the very first chicken. So your answer is the egg.
