If your herz is telling Du this boy is the one then Du should go for it and if you're Friends can't be happy for Du and put their feelings aside to let Du be happy then i'm sorry but they are not true Friends and you're better off without him.
Just because he sings songs from the '50's and '60's and knows lines from star, sterne trek (so do i - live long and prosper) doesn't make him any less of a man oder a friend. It just means he's interested in different things that some people my find 'un-cool'.
To be honest if Du really Liebe this boy Du will sacrifice a few Friends who probably won't be around forever anyway, and sacrifice your popularity for love. A little bit of teasing won't hurt Du hun, but missing out on a chance like this could.
After all a few months from now when Du and him being a couple become old news they'll get bored and let up. Trust me, i've been through the same thing. yes it's annoying, frustrating and upsetting but when Du realise that Du stood up for yourself and what Du believed in it will all get better :)

I think that if Du truly care about him, Du should go out with him. Du Liebe him for who he is, so why should it matter what other people think? I totally understand that it really sucks to be made fun of, but Du shouldn't let other people suck Du in to the conformity of being someone who isn't really you. You've been really good friends, yes? If Du go out, the teasing may be slightly worse at first, but people will get over it soon enough.

So don't let other people's nastiness drive Du oder your friend away from being happy. Ignore the nasty kids if Du can, and soon they will get bored and leave Du alone.
