Why does Paul has a tattoo?

I searched in the web and I know that his tattoo is real,he has it for his personal reasons and so on...but does he just has it because it looks good(i think it looks extremely HOT!!!) oder does he has it for a special reason?in a interview he says he has his own personal reasons...so can anyone help me??

From what he told us at the Convention I went to, when he was younger he got a tattoo on his shoulder and then when he got a bit older he regretted it and didn't like it any more. So he went to a Japanese Tattoo artist to see if he could alter and make it into something he'd be happy to keep on him the rest of his life and hence the rose :')
His older tattoo can be seen in some of the clips of him in wolf Lake!
