I do think that Nate sometimes needs Haley more but I truely believe that they need each other equally that is what makes Naley so great and work so well.

They bring out the best in each other.
They are so perfect together... and apart, they're messes.

In the earlier seasons Nathan definitely needed Haley more, but now they rely on each other equally <3

I think Haley has been more independent in their relationship, why she's so quick in judging Nathan when Carrie kissed him, although I agree they need each other not just equally.
