I think many of Du will agree with me when I say people Mitmachen Fanpop just for the sake of bullying people. Other people Mitmachen because they think they can take advantage of people and others just like to 'sext'. I have encountered all three of these while being a member of this site for two and a half years.
So why is this happening? There are many people out there who purely live to cause trouble, and now the easiest way to cause people distress without being caught is to use fake accounts on social media sites. Fanpop is a social media, intended for Fans of different celebreties and TV shows, Musik etc. but we also interact a lot with other Fans from all over the world.
I loved Fanpop when I first joined. It's a great place to chat with people who have the same interests as youself and have fun collecting medals. But throughout the past Jahr I have made some bad experiences.
In November I was talking to a guy who made me feel sorry for him. He told me he had bad injuries and so on and so forth, so we started chatting using a different social media. As I got to know him (so I thought) he started asking me to send him photos. I didn't send him any when he sagte he was unable to send any himself as his phone had broken and he had no camera - LIE! I don't think any 19-year-old American with a job can say that. After I'd sagte no he asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend because he 'loved me' and 'thought I was the most amazing and beautiful girl he'd ever met' - Weiter LIE! Again I sagte no (I already had a boyfriend). At this point I began to feel that something was wrong. I saw that on Fanpop he was Schreiben with other girls, telling them similar stories about himself and that he really liked them.
Then suddenly I began getting messages from him demanding nude Fotos and Videos of myself. That was it. I told deleted him from my contacts on this other socila media site and reported him on Fanpop and telling them what had happened to me. Thankfully Fanpop reacted immediately and I'm so gratefull for that.
Shortly afterwards another guy kept pestering me, 'sexting' and causing me grief. It wasn't the same person, I could clearly tell. Luckily someone else must have reported him for his account is now also gone.
At the beginning of this Jahr I had a girl calling me 'an ugly b*tch', 'stupid' and that I should 'stop messing with her man'. I didn't even know this girl, she was new to Fanpop and seemed to be getting on perfectly well with the other users. Can anyone explain that to me? Zufällig bullying. I also reported her, and her account was suspended.
I'm really grateful to Fanpop for reacting so well and wuickly to situations like this. I can understand that sometimes they need evidence, oder else people would randomly Berichten others just to get their accounts suspended.
I would really appreciate it if all of Du other users here reported people as soon as Du start getting bullied, oder talk to another person about the problem. I don't think trying to solve your own problems on this site is going to work. I witnessed someone trying to do this, and however harsh Du are with the bully, they will always be just that little bit worse. There are people here willing to help, younger users are Mehr effected Von this and they should be protected. Problems like these can lead to depression and worse.
Maybe I was a little bit careless and unthoughtful about people trying to use me, and I walked straight into it. But now I have learnt from these mistakes and I want other users here to spot bullying oder abuse a long way in advance to prevent an uncomfortable situation.
We don't want to turn Fanpop into Facebook, where people are constantly being bullied and nothing is being done about it. I think this site was created for Fans to enjoy themselves, not hide from bullies who hide behind a username. Bullies are weak and have no idea what they are talking about. They pick on people and make them feel bad when they know nothing about them. They are liars. And as for people who want nude photots - ignore them! They will only make your life hell!
I hope I have opened up your eyes to problems Du don't always see. I'm talking about this because I have experienced these things, and they aren't nice. It would be great if anyone who has had experienced this kind of thing to leave a Kommentar and tell us about it. It's good to know about these things, to know that they are there.
