Konan took an arm off Madara, Gaara could never do something like that. Shes also got her millions of paper bombs technique which I severely doubt Gaara could defend against.

That depends. We havent relly seen if Gaara still has the same kind of control over his sand. If it was before Shukaku was taken, I think Gaara. It's called an Absolute Defense for a reason.

A.) He's Gaara. Seriously, plot-shield no jutsu.
B.) Konan's a chick. Seriously. Payed attention lately? Girls dont fare well in this manga.

yeah, Konan has all those paper bombs, but unlike Deidara, Gaara would be able to locate and siphon paper out of his sand, unlike Dei-dei's clay. Personally i think the two are evenly matched though.

Gaaras sand is far from the absolute defense, people like Kimimaro and Rock Lee have demonstrated that it is definitely nowhere near invincible. The sand Gaara carries with him isn't enough to defend against Konans massive sea of paper bombs explosion. I agree that most of the chicks in Naruto don't fare well but Konan is the exception since she seriously wounded Madara and took an arm of him which is not an easy thing to accomplish.

If Gaara still has the Shukaku? MAYBE Gaara. Still, Konan will always have the upper hand. I mean, she heavily injured Madara. Not that I don't have faith in Gaara. I believe he could accomplish something like that too, but I have to see something like that first.

Konan is definitely the stronger one here, I think, especially because Gaara doesn't have the One-Tails anymore.
But if we take into account Masashi Kishimoto is the author, Gaara would probably win. HeeCawRoo has a point.

Gaara for the win. He is the Kazekage and he can still control his sand just as good. Also, paper wouldn't work...unless she used that extremely crazy jutsu she used on Madara, but even then Gaara wouldn't die. Yes, and he is a main character and would most likely live just for that reason...

Gaara can beat a lot of people. Naruto and Sasuke not counting. Also Madara.
