Desmond is a good "all around" guy... he was "almost" a doctor, he's been in the military, he can build stuff (theater set design experience), he has psychic potential, he swims like a fish, he runs like the wind (heh heh), and I'd never get tired of looking at him.

Sayid and Jack, Sayid's the smartest, Jack's a doctor, they both know how to shoot/fight, they protect others, etc...

i'd feel safest with sayid, not because he's my favorite and i think he's hot, but because of his military experience; great handling with guns and he kicks ass and can plan very well.
