Okay, as I promise, here is my review on both movie and stage. I managed to see the movie again last night and here is the comparison with its stage counterpart.
The Movie Version
The movie version is slightly shorter because the original stage version is really long! If they kept the original length, the songs will definitely have to much repetition!
Also, some of the songs have swap so that the story have some logic sense in it. Especially I Dreamed a Dream which comes after Lovely Ladies, whereas in the original stage version, it is the other way around for logic reasons.
In fact, the movie version is quite faithful towards the stage version and not to forget there are 2 new songs that were Schreiben specially for the movie. They are Suddenly and its reprise, I always thought that the former was special because it was Valjean's moment that he is telling the audience that he is going to become a dad Von adopting Cossette.
The reprise was really sad as it tells from Cossette's point of view that she is sad that her father is leaving and will not be attending her wedding.
The Stage Version
As I previously mention on my Zurück Artikel about the musical version, I was really happy and blessed to see the stage version in Singapore. Despite that the settings are different from the original version, I was very satisfied Von it!
I was also disappointed that 3 songs: schloss on a Cloud, Look Down and Valjean's Confession were shortened. Well, I personally think that the reason for this is to avoid repetition as the musical is SUPER long! So I can't blame Cameron Mackintosh for the changes for the stage version.
Finally, I was very happy that the Bishop of Digne was featured in the finale. In Zurück production, he was excluded and I think the revival had decided to be Mehr faithful and straightforward towards its original novel.
Tomorrow Comes!
Schreiben this Artikel really makes want to see the musical again, it is so beautiful and moving that we could never get enough of it, and I maybe going to download the Original Symphonic Recording sometimes later to experience it again if I am lucky enough.
