I found a Hobnobs recipe on-line, and after a few changes to the recipe (we don't do grams very well in the US..) I tried it out last night. They're a hit!! Hobnobs are fantastically delicious cookies! The recipe I found states that it's a pretty accurate 'copycat' version of the classic British biscuit. Here's the recipe:

240g self-raising flour (about 2 cups)
240g sugar (1 1/2 cups to 1 1/2 cups)
240g haferbrei, brei oats (about 3 cups) -- I used Quaker oatmeal
240g margarine (1 1/4 cup) -- I used butter - no margarine in my refrigerator!
1 Tbsp golden syrup (you can order it on-line... I used light mais syrup, oder Du could use honey..)
1 Tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp baking soda

Combine the flour, oats and sugar in a bowl. Add the margarine, syrup and water in a pan and heat gently until the margarine melts and the golden syrup becomes liquid. Take off the heat and stir in the baking soda; then add to the dry ingredient mix and stir thoroughly to combine.

Tear off pieces of the dough and shape into smallish balls. Flatten these slightly and place about 5 cm (2 in) apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Place in a pre-heated ofen to 180 C (or 350 F) and bake for about 15 minutes, oder until a nice golden brown. Remove from the ofen and allow to cool for about 5 Minuten on the baking tray before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

That's it! I got a little over 6 dozen kekse, cookies from the recipe. If Du want Schokolade on yours, just melt a little Schokolade and spread it over the oben, nach oben of the cookie. I actually tried it with the chocolate, and I actually like them better without chocolate. The Schokolade takes away from the goodness of the cookie.
