BBC has some really good adaptations, but often they forget about emotions, and it's so bad..

i think the same . i really like P&P1995 and s&s2008 and northanger abbey , but the other ones are less interesting . Less deep

Agree about the 2007 Northanger Abbey and the 2008 Sense and Sensibility, also the 2009 Emma is rather deep!

^well, it was very good. But not as perfect as my favourite with Gwyneth IMO

The early-mid 90s bbc movies were not the greatest, but the ones recently done in 07-08 were a big improvement. Definitely had more emotional range than the previous ones. I do enjoy the other movie adaptations, but I feel bbc stick to the novels better.

both have both great and not-so-good adaptations so i can't pick one... it really doesn't matter to me as long as they stick to the book:)

Well, both are really great, but in the end I chose movie adaptations because my favorite adaptation (Pride and Prejudice 2005) is a movie.

I find that a lot of the times, movie adaptations are better, but that doesn't mean that BBC adaptations aren't good!

Although you can watch the movies more often because they are shorter, it is also harder to get that emotional depth which is so prevalent in the miniseries through tone of voice, eye contact and the words choosen. You can include more scenes and get a better sense of who the characters are as people.

However, I'm not discounting that movies can also bring out things from the books that the BBC Miniseries' sometimes overlook.
