Ever since IU came back with 'Chat-Shire,' it seems like nothing but controversy after controversy has surrounded the new release.

Recently, another issue has come to light, this time involving the inspiration behind 'Chat-Shire's album cover.

An artist Von the name of Jessica HJ Lee uploaded a blog post titled 'link,' claiming that the artwork for 'Chat-Shire' was just too similar to her original art to be overlooked as mere inspirations but rather, a direct, intentional copy of her work.

Lee even showed a side-by-side comparison of certain parts of her art to parts of the album artwork for 'Chat-Shire,' pointing out the similar color schemes, artistic style and direction, and medium. Lee explained that she contacted the illustrator behind the artwork for 'Chat-Shire,' and the illustrator had admitted that she drew inspiration from the "overall tone and manner" of her work; however, Lee doesn't think that the "tone and manner" of her art is the only thing that the illustrator derived inspiration for 'Chat-Shire.'

She wrote, "When I did Mehr research, I found out that the illustrator who created the album artwork was somebody who had gotten in touch with me about my artwork for a different project a few years back. I contacted the illustrator regarding this and she acknowledged that she took inspiration from my work for the 'overall tone and manner' of the illustration. However, when I showed this to other illustrators, they thought the similarities are too close to just be a 'tone' oder 'manner.' I respect IU's work and talent, and I am hoping that she did not know this happened. It was important for me to address this issue because an entire Jahr of work went into creating these pieces for my Graduate Thesis. As a fellow artist, I'm sure IU respects the authenticity and integrity of one's creation, and I hope to keep the originality of my artwork. I wrote this post hoping to raise awareness and get companies to talk Mehr about their Design inspirations and give credit to the network of hard working artists that created the work."
