Do Du think the Zeigen is sexist?

I didn't grow up watching the Zeigen oder anything but I have fallen in Liebe with it. I do not think it is sexist just because Jeannie is man's ideal woman and that is what Sidney Sheldon (the creator) was getting at. There is no reason to think that the Zeigen is sexist just because she is willing to give up her powers for Tony and become a housewife. That is a sacrafice that she wanted to make and clearly, you, snoznoodle, do not understand the fact that she is a genie and as such, she calls him "Master". That is just how that Zeigen ran, and quite frankly, I believe Du are nuts at being offended just because she is mans ideal woman. I mean, geez why would Du be offended at the fact that she is blonde, ditzy, beautiful and calls him master? That is nothing to be offended about that.

The answer to this Frage is a resounding "Yes!" but the same could be true of all the shows we liked to watch in the 70s & 80s. For example, Samantha in Bewitched, she may be a witch with powerful magic but she's just a stay at mom with a child. The Zeigen needn't have been so sexist, ditzy & blonde if the plot did not include the geni falling Liebe with her master and wanting to be human to marry him. I used to enjoy the Zeigen too as a kid but now on oben, nach oben of being sexist I also think it's incredibly corny in the Schauspielen style and the dialogue. Afterall, actors then didn't find the character within as with Wolverine played Von Hugh Jackman rather they simply acted.

I grew up watching I Dream of Jeannie. So much that if my mother put me down for my nap when it was on I would get up and dance to the introduction then watch the Zeigen as if in a trance.I am 37 years old now and still enjoy the quorky mischief in every episode!

Coming from somene who hates everything that's sexists, and feel that women are Mehr then just the wife and mother in sociality, I have to disagree. Just because the points your making don't add up to be sexistism.

Yes, Jeannie is the Ideal woman. she's pretty, and willing to do everything to please Tony, but she does it because she wants too. In fact, Tony hates it when she does stuff for him, and he wants her to be herself and such. where as shows like Bewitched, it's the complete opposite. Darrin hates Sam's powers and wants her to live her life being the housewife and raise their kids. it's revolting to watch that. now, there are some episodes where Tony's trying to make Jeannie a human because of her powers, but that's because Jeannie herself takes pleasing him to far, to the point where it drives him mad. it's not because he thinks he's better then her oder anything based on the fact that she's a woman and he's a man.

Now, there's a episode called "The Americanizan of Jeannie." I think that's the title.in Season 1? and in that Episode Tony wants Jeannie to become a tipical american woman. but in the end of the episode he comes to realize that it doesn't matter what she's like, because she's Jeannie, he doesn't care either way, regardless of the ending, in the episode Tony expects Jeannie to clean house, yes but not physical labor. she's a Genie he expects her to blink it because she can, not because it's her place.

Turth be told, in my opinion based on the time that 'I Dream Of Jeannie' was on the air, it kind of showed signs of not being sexist.
for examples?
-Tony not wanting her to give him anything.
-Tony hating being called master.
-Jeannie taking control over everything in the man's life.

I don't understand how Du could think she's stupid, because she was actually smart. she just didn't think everything through. she was inplusive. that itself does not mean she was ditzy. lol.
also, Du have to think. it's fictional. set in 1960-70s. and Jeannie is a Genie. their own goal is to give their masters anything Du want Von nature, which in the 1960 was considered sexy. in fact there are some episodes where Jeannie gets traded to a woman, and she has no choice but to listen to them, because whoever has the bottle, has the Genie, but Von the end Tony saves her and becomes her master again. so really is has nothing to do with Tony being a man, but her master, and the fact that she loves him. :)

First of all, yes i agree that men wanted a certain woman but it was womens fault for giving it to them. I understand that men were and are sexist but the fact of the matter is that women would not have been put down all of these centuries if they had not been trying to model themselves after what man want. women are always blaming men for putting them down but they ALLOWED them to put them down. just because men want something of Du does not mean Du have to give it to them. There's always two sides to the story. Just as women took control a few decades Vor and got their rights they could have gotten them a long time Vor if they had had the courage.I think that jeannie is stupid for the fact that she kept getting tricked Von her sister and for the fact that she has no common sense but this Zeigen is not sexist. Major Nelson never wanted her to do stuff for him and would have married her before if she hadn't been a genie. in fact major nelson is an Angel – Jäger der Finsternis because jeannie was stuuuuuuuuuuupid!

Well in thoughs Tag yes there was a lot of sexist on tv. but has times changed all that much. but far as Jeannie goes, maybe oder maybe not, well would Du give up some thing for the one Du loved ? in this Tag and time no one want to give up anything for any one. we want it all..
what would Du give up for the one Du were in Liebe with to be with them ? in Superman 2, he gave up his power for Lois. because he loved her, so if Jeannie giving up her power for Tony is sexist, what is Superman when he gives up his for Lois ?

Not in the way other users view it but yes in a differentvway. He treats her like a child and she is his jeanie who gives in to his every command but he takes her for granted. He doesnt marry her and she still stays with him, I find it abnoxous. Indisagree about bewiched because she stands up to darren, she shows that she has a say.
