Pitt was having his afternoon tee when his office door swung open. He got on his feet the moment House entered and it was followed Von a deafening silence. He sighed before turning back to pour some Mehr tee to his mug as his patient stood Frozen while staring at the carpeted floor.
Pitt: Need a drink?
House: No...
Pitt: We could ---
House: I'm letting myself go to rehab ---
Pitt turned to him as House looked up again.
House: For my leg... rehab and therapy... again...
Pitt: Are you... Sure?
House nodded.
*** 2 weeks later ***
Cuddy opened the front door with Rachel at her arm. Wilson was the one who met her at the other side of the door with some bags of goodies for her and for the baby.
Cuddy: Hey...
Wilson: Hi...
Cuddy: Come on in...
She went down the hall and Wilson followed her. They headed to the küche where he placed the bags on the counter.
Wilson: Been alone lately?
Cuddy: Yah, my parents decided to spend summer in our kabine along the coast...
Wilson: Since when?
Cuddy: Thursday...
He walked near her and offered his arms to carry Rachel which the woman gratefully accepted. The moment the baby was in Wilson’s arms, Cuddy started unpacking the goods out the bags.
Wilson: I bought some yogurt too. I think I got a dozen of them…
Cuddy: Oh Du really shouldn’t have…
Wilson: I shouldn’t? Are Du kidding me? Those are the best and I know they’re your favorites.
Cuddy: In that case, thank you…
Wilson nodded with a smile and began playing with the baby who has been laughing while her mother and godfather had been talking awhile ago.
Cuddy: These erdnuss butters are enough to keep me supplied until Weiter month…
Wilson ignored the smiling baby in front of him and turned to look at Cuddy instead who’s keeping the bottles in the cabinets.
Wilson: Weiter month?
Cuddy: Uh-huh…
Wilson: Wait, wait, wait… I thought you’re going with me back to New Jersey Von Friday?
Cuddy: I’m staying here…
Wilson: What the? --- Du know Du can’t, what about the hospital?
Cuddy: I called Gales the other Tag and applied for another week off. I told him I’m sick.
Wilson: But you’ve been out for already two weeks. Von Friday, it’ll be your third…
She turned and got the baby from him.
Cuddy: Yah, I can do the math…
She smiled, confident with her decision, but Wilson knows this is just a mask to hide something so he decided to dig deeper into her thoughts as he followed them to the living room.
Wilson: Gales agreed on this?
Cuddy: Yes… Maybe he also figured out I needed some Weltraum to breath in after all those construction days… He’ll be your boss for a while, Von the way… Relax, it’s not like he’s going to eat you?
Wilson: Yah, he’s not going to eat me oder any other employee in the hospital but he’s going to eat the administration of the hospital. Gales can’t handle such big responsibility…
Cuddy: He could… He wouldn’t accept that job if he knows he can’t…
Wilson: He accepted the job because of the ruling power that comes with it… --- The hospital had been crippled when House left and with Du leaving as well, Du just cut off the only remaining leg that keeps it running…
Cuddy: <Looked up at Wilson> Don’t start with it... and I’m not leaving the hospital, I just need a break…
Wilson shook his head, annoyed with the fact that Cuddy’s firm with her decision to stay for awhile in Michigan. Silence was brought out between them. Both deflecting on the idea of Cuddy staying in her hometown for another week, he was ready to leave when he turned to face her again.
Wilson: Von the way, House is… on his third rehab and therapy. Guess he followed your Guter Rat of getting help after all. And… he’s doing great.
He could see from Cuddy’s eyes the happiness she’s trying to hide the moment their look landed on each other. He could feel her excitement to see House again but at the same time, was trying to act like she doesn’t care.
Cuddy: Okay…
Wilson nodded in frustration, she didn’t say anything in praise oder smut about House’s good condition (damn it, how long will she be playing this I-don’t-care game?!), then the oncologist left and drove out again.
Meanwhile in PPTH, his tiredness brought House into a deep sleep. He didn’t bother to remove his socks before going to dreamland since he’s body and mind would Liebe to stick on the bett the moment he arrived in his room after a long jog. His mind had created a horrible nightmare the moment he shut his eyes close and he woke up with a gasp and panting. He turned his head to face the other side, hoping to sleep again, but there he saw a woman figure with blonde hair and slim built. Pain: A House poem.
Pain, It distracts me,
It keeps me from being angry,
It blocks out problems I don’t want to face
Scars vanish without a trace
Pain, It makes me forget
All of my regrets
About those I pushed away
When I really wanted them to stay
Pain, It takes away my fears
Like, if I will be alone the rest of my years
Left here to drown
In all of my secret tears
On pain I am now dependant,
Though it is my assailant
I am as addicted to the pain
As I am to drugs I use to make it no longer remain
