And the haircuts, yup. Joffrey's costumes are indeed good, though I never really thought about this. I really like Barristan Selmy's costume too. Ian McKellen is great indeed, but I'm totally fine off without him. Why would people like Renly only because he's gay??
And I'd rather be a Lannister than a Stark on the whole, but if I look at individuals... well, that's a different story. Ned Stark is a really strong pro for Lannisters, because he is lamer and more naive than my 10 year old sister. Tyrion is also a pro for Lannisters and Jaime a really faint pro too. But I'd rather be Catelyn Stark with her narrow-sightedness and thoughtlessness than Cersei Lannister fucking any male relative she can get. I'd also rather be Robb/Rickon/Bran/even Jon than Joffrey or Tommen and as for the girls, I'd rather be Myrcella than Sansa, but Arya than Myrcella. Tywin Lannister can thank a lot to Charles Dance, but reading the book learning about how he had the whatshisname Targaryen baby's head smashed to the wall degraded him heavily in my eyes. So... whatever, I don't know.
