I don't have a problem with Arya becoming sexual... and I did like that they showed her agency... so I don't think it was out of character as such... but I do think it was unnecessary.

I also think it was uncomfortable in the context of the specific sub-group of GOT watchers who sexualised the younger actresses like Maisie and Sophie even when they were legally children...

^On the age part, I don't know if it's accurate or not, but Arya is 11 at the beginning of the series. And given the pace of the show going a little less than a year/a year per season, she should be somewhere between 15 and 18 right now.

I didn't expect it at all but I mean hey, get your man gurl. She came to terms with her possible death the next day, she felt human in this instance, separate from the quite cold assassin we are used to now. I didn't find it out of character imo.

I understand peoples discomfort with it though, watching her grow up on screen from a child. But she is a woman now, both actor and character. I believe Arya is 18 at this point. The actress is in her 20s. But yeah, fully understand people feeling odd seeing it though.

Arya had a crush on Gendry from the start so I expected they're gonna get together eventually. I think it's great for her character, she's the most mature out of all the Starks. I understand that it's a bit weird for some since we grew up with her but she's a woman now (Maisie is literally 22 so I don't know why people are freaking out.. because she looks younger?🤷🏼‍♀️) No one was complaining when Tommen (age:14) slept with Margaery or when Sansa (17 at the time) was raped by Ramsay..

A bit uncomfortable to watch - I know she’s an adult now but I still think of her as a baby. That said, I don’t think it’s OOC for her to want to lose her virginity before probable death.

- They certainly were... there was much less uproar about Tommen because, ya know, heteronormativty/sexual double standard etc etc, but the rape of Sansa had some huge backlash and the writers/producers, Sophie Turner and George R. R. Martin all had to come out of the woodwork to defend the scene. link, but there are heaps of versions of the full interviews/responses, as well as heaps of people writing about their response to the scene.

@misanthrope86 , Oh I remember that now. Fans on twitter were outraged. in my opinion I think if you're not prepared to see some triggering stuff, don't watch it. It's Game of Thrones after all. (And that's coming from someone who was a victim of sexual abuse).
I've seen way more rants about Arya's scene tho. I'm positive it has to do with the fact that Maisie looks younger than she actually is & that's why we were all a bit uncomfortable.
The Tommen scene disturbed me especially when I found out the actor was only 16 at the time. If the roles were reversed everyone would lose their mind

Naofumi picked It was unnecessary and out of character:
I think the rant for Arya scene is not just because she looks younger, but people have seen her grow since young age and story wise she isn’t supposed to be that old. When I heard that she's 18 in the story, I was a bit surprised because I never noticed her growth from a child to adult. I never noticed Arya going through that "phase" of puberty where she is supposed to spend a great deal of time fascinating about romance. So, it was all revenge and all of a sudden this sex scene outta nowhere..

@Naofumi , but we also grew up with Sansa and Tommen.. And Arya was thirsting over Gendry since season 3 so I was not surprised she wanted to lose her virginity to him, especially if she expects that they're all gonna die soon. I see where you're coming from though

I agree with HarleySkywalker a lot here.
Granted, people have rightfully shown discomfort for the Sansa scene, I have seen WAY more backlash with Arya's scene. And I didn't see much complaint about the Tommen scene and that was HELLA UNCOMFORABLE with him actually looking like a kid and Margaery being an adult.
I personally saw nothing wrong with Arya's scene. She should be around 18 in the show, and the actress is older. She doesn't look like she's 12 anymore, even if she was in the beginning...
I felt the scene was very in character for her. Even a savage killer has needs, and she's cared for Gendry for a long time.
I can see some of the discomfort with the scene since we did watch her grow up on screen, but I still like this
intimate scene more than many others in the show, especially from the overrated Jonerys scene. Personally think they are WAY overrated as a couple and that scene was lacking in passion. At least Arya and Gendry still had passion.

In conclusion: whatevs, I'm happy. MY SHIP HAS SAILED! :D
(Now hoping for something to happen with my second ship before they die)
