Full Metal Alchemist Fullmetal Alchemist: Crimson Skies

An order. That is all they knew, is that their attackers belonged to an order of Alchemists. Alchemists that believed in God and Equivalent exchange. The attacks came in the night, the Runners and Gunners clothed in black. They say that the Sky turns Crimson with their coming and going, leaving carnage in their wake. They retreat into the night with their stolen goods and leave in the morning, posing as State Alchemists whilst they distribute the goods to the patrons.

Many small towns and villages have been destroyed and looted, their people left to bleed out and die under the piles of burning rubble. Can no person stop these horrible Alchemists? Will their reign of terror never cease?

This story will be set in the year of 1920.

Name: Gemma Einsam (The Chaos Alchemist)

Sex: Female

Age: 20

Height: 5' 7

Weight: 128 lbs

Hair and Eye colors: Her hair is a light golden brown. It is long, falling past her backside when left down. She keeps it up in a loose braid or ponytail. When kept up it falls to her mid back. Her eyes are a deep green, common of her Nordic ancestors, but a rare eye color nonetheless.

Appearance: Gemma wears, more often than not, A black wife-beater under a gray button down shirt. Over this she wears a deep navy blue coat with white trim on the edges. It has a high collar and a hood that hands from the back. The coat is button in the front by buckles that resemble the letter V, and it cuts off abruptly in the front. It trails down to the back and splits into two tails. Th navy coat is form fitting at the midriff and on her upper arms, while becoming looser and flowing near the back and bottom. The sleeves are always rolled up to the elbow, revealing her automail right arm. Under this she wears black pants and boots with white soles. The boots are similar in appearance to the military issued model, but with her own modifications, such as buckles on the soles and near the top to keep them closed and fit. Despite being thin, she is toned and muscular. She is proficient in martial fighting skills, as well as with close combat weapons. She prefers not to use guns, but has trained with those as well.

Personality: Gemma is a relatively mysterious girl. Not much is known about her past, other than she was abused as a child and was a gifted Alchemist. She can be a relatively hotheaded and short tempered girl at times, and at others can be quite sensitive. She chooses to remain alone, opting to travel without a companion. She can be easily irritated and matter of fact. She will often remain cold and calculated unless she knows the people she is around. She is disgusted with herself as a person. She dreams of one day getting her right arm back.

Background: Gemma had been interested in Alchemy from the age of five. She always loved it. It gave her a reason to excel in her studies and do well in her schooling. She began studying under her father when she realized her true talent for Alchemy. He had always been hard on her, and became harder during the lessons. He saw it as an opportunity to shape her into the son he had always wanted. During a lesson one night, Gemmas inner power manifested in a concentrated explosion. Debris flew as the shed was destroyed and her father was killed. She was grief stricken, even though he had been hard on her he still loved him. Gemma tried when she was 8 to bring him back, but failed and had her right arm taken away. Gemma had felt no emotion after that incident, blocking out anything to do with her father, even though it was her own fault. Her arm was replaced with automail a few months later. This automail was outfitted for stress and wear, which makes it ideal for combat situations, and it was designed to take the shape of human muscles so as to make it feel more realistic.

She grew up after that, being abused by her mother and shunned by her two older siblings, who also had learned Alchemy.

At age 12, she sought a new teacher, eventually finding a State Alchemist who was willing. Two years later, she took the test and passed, becoming a State Alchemist. She was given a title and a watch and sent on her first mission not a month later. After all of this, while she was away, her mother died when she was 14.

Six years passed and she is 20 years old. She is short tempered and easily angered at times, but people tend not to trouble her too often. She is one of the most well known Alchemists in all of Amestris, her name becoming famous to admirers and criminals alike.

Affiliation: She is affiliated with Amestris.

Official Position: She is a State Alchemist of High regard.

Alchemy types: She specializes in something she likes to call "Chaos" Alchemy. It draws upon her own bodily elements to be shaped into something that can be used for another purpose. For example, she may be able to draw out the Carbon and Iron in her body to make a steel sword of some sort. She can draw out the oxygen in her lungs and combine it with the own water from her body to create steam or fog of some sort. Each element in her body, however, is tainted with a dark and malicious power, so everything appears to be a darker color than it should. For example, the water will appear to be a dark grey, or the iron will appear the color of coal. Complete list of elements in the Human body:

*Oxygen (65%)
*Carbon (18%)
*Hydrogen (10%)
*Nitrogen (3%)
*Calcium (1.5%)
*Phosphorus (1.0%)
*Potassium (0.35%)
*Sulfur (0.25%)
*Sodium (0.15%)
*Magnesium (0.05%)
*Copper, Zinc, Selenium, Molybdenum, Fluorine, Chlorine, Iodine, Manganese, Cobalt, Iron (0.70%)
*Lithium, Strontium, Aluminum, Silicon, Lead, Vanadium, Arsenic, Bromine (trace amounts)
These can be used to create many things, such as gadgets of some kind, weapons with working mechanisms, etc... (She is also able to do this with the elements around her, but only with Iron, Cobalt, Carbon, Copper, Zinc, Aluminum, Silicon, Sulfur, Lead and Nitrogen.)

She also specializes in Terra-forming Alchemy and Basic deconstruction and reconstruction.

Known Family:
Lilian Einsam(Mother, aged 57(When she died), Deceased)
Arden Einsam(Brother, aged 28)
Dianna Einsam(Sister, aged 26)
Gregory Einsam(Father, aged 50(when he died), Deceased)

Other Details: Gemma harbors A Gate of Truth, meaning she can use alchemy without a Transmutation Circle.

Hey there Link! Here's my character!

------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Kirito Hanashi

Age: 19

Height: 1,82 (as you know it's the system I know :P)

Weight: 65 kg

Hair and Eye colors: He has black hair and black eyes. It is short and straight but not that short as his hair falls a bit in his eyes.

Appearance: He wears a black T-Shirt and black pants, black shoes... and a black coat. He has two swords on his back that were made by his father, one black, and the other one white, each one holding a different alchemy in it. While wielding it, he can use the alchemy imbued in his swords. He also wears black fingerles gloves.

Personality: He is a very cold and self-reserved person. Altough kind at heart, he tends to hide this trace of his personality due to being to shy and also due to the circunstances he's in. Often trying not to engage on coversations whit other people and also tending to ignore them when they talk to him, he may sound rude, but it's no his intention. A lone person, he prefers to work alone than to have the help of others. He has only one goal in his life: to clean his name, and bring to justice the true perpetrator.

Background: The younger twin, of the Hanashi family. He was born in a very wealthy family, and since he was a kid he had everything he ever wanted. His odler twin, identical to him, however born whit white hair, and him were always best friends. Always playing together. However when they were 7 their mother gave birth to their sister. While Kirito enjoyed having a little sister, his brother Kayaba did not. And due to this, when their sister grew up, Kayaba started to hate on her as hard as he could. This led Kirito and Kayaba to become enemies, and thus, by the age of 15 Kayaba moved out their family house, and went to learn alchemy. Little he knew he wouldn't see Kayaba for many years. On the other hand, Kirito didn't wanted to follow the steps of his father, and thus, decided he would train to instead of an alchemist, become a swordsman. And so he did. Whit wood swords made by himself, he learned all he could by himself before moving out of his house in order to learn new techniques by a famous swordsman. Even tough due to swordsmanship being considered a lost art, due to the rise of alchemy, he loved what he was doing so it was fine. When he was about to leave his father stopped him and gave him two swords: The Nightbringer, and the Dawnbreaker, two swords crafted and imbued whit alchemy by his father. And so he left to learn. When he was 17, he returned home, and there he lived for one year, until officers and state alchemists came to his house. Claiming that he was a murderer, they tried to arrest him, however he resisted. Due to his resistance, the state alchemists decided to force him. His father however believieng his son was guilty, asked for his son to give himself in. But he did not listen. He fought the officers and state alchemists and ran as fast as he could until he lost their trail. After a few months of running and hiding, and countless fights against alchemists sent to bring him to justice, he went in a city to buy supplies. A risky move but he had to do it. There he saw a newspaper that were a few months old. He grabbed it only to see himself in a photo killing people whit his bare hands. However he noticed something: He was using alchemy. How could that be possible? He doens't know anything about alchemy. And then he realised... His twin brother. Kayaba had killed and destryed an entire village and put the blame on him. He got enraged and left he city screaming in anger. An year later, he saw in the news that the Fuher had been assassinated and that a former state alchemist, part of the Fuher's personal guard would take his place... No one else than Kayaba Hanashi. He felt an anger so great as he never did in all his years of life. His entire family, and his country were against him, and now Kayaba had ordered a man-hunt on his brother. He now seeks to find his brother and unravel why his older twin brother did all he did. He has no other objective in life than this.

Affiliation: Himself.

Official position: Nothing. He is branded a criminal and a murderer by Amestris.

Alchemy types: He doesn't know any kind of alchemy. However his sword does. His father, a very famous alchemist, had two original self-made alchemists that he developed himself, called "Dark and Light" alchemy. The Nightbringer is imbued whit the Dark alchemy and the Dawnbreaker whit the Light alchemy. The dark alchemy has the power to copy any alchemy it enters in contact whit. So any alchemy that hits the blade will be absorbed, and then stored inside the sword. However the copied alchemy is weaker than the original, and it has a limited number of uses, depending on how strong the opponets alchemy is and how much the sword managed to absorb. Also all the copied alchemy when used will appear in a black color. So if it's a fire alchemy, it will appear as black fire. If it's water alchemy, black water, steel alchemy, black steel and so on... Also aside from this fact, when it hits a clear slice on an enemy, Kirito will have all of his wounds healed, by absorbing his enemy vital energy.

The light alchemy imbued in the Dawnbreaker works differently. It has the power to create shields made of a shining material that resembles light. These shields however can easily be breaked by a powerful alchemy or weapon. However it has one more ability. By absorbing it's owners vital energy it will shine in a golden color, and if hitting an enemy clean, it wil do not only superficial damage, but it will damage to internal organs as well. However the owner will lose his vital energy in order to do so, and thus will burn his stamina and even his health will be compromised. This skill was named "Martyr" by his father.

He usually fights using the light alchemy to deal sever damage to his oponents, and the dark alchemy to recover himself by draining the opponents vital energy. He rarely uses the other powers, as there is a limit to how much he can use them before having to wait it to recharge.

Other details: Since he fights whit swords, and has no alchemy skill, whitout his swords he is just a normal human. Also since the alchemy he uses is imbued in his sword, he doesnt need a transmutation circle to use it.

Known family: Kurosu Hanashi. Father. Age: 45

Mami Hanashi (she took her husbands last name) Mother. Age: 44

Now for his twin brother.

-----------------------------------------

Name: Kayaba Hanashi

Age: 19

Height: 1,82 m

Weight: 65 kg

Hair and eye colours: He has white hair and grey eyes. His hair is short, but not to short as a bit of it fall over his eyes.

Appearance: He wears a white T-shirt, and a whit coat over it. He also wears white pants and white shoes, and white fingerless gloves. Basicalle, he is the same as Kirito but white instead of black.

Personality: A very sweet person on the outside. For strangers, he may look like a good hearted person always thinking about the good for everyone, and a justice bringer to outlaws. But little they know this is all a self-made personality. In truth, he is very egoist, and only does everything he does to achieve his own goals. If he have to kill an innocent to get what he wants, he'll do it. But of course, whitout showing to people his true face. Very arrogant, and thinking lowly of others, he lives only for himself. He actually used his brother to make him the criminal, oof a crime he commited. How he did it even tough their air and eyes are of different colour, will be explained in his alchemy.

Background: The older twin, of the Hanashi family. He was born in a very wealthy family and since he was a kid he had everything he wanted. His younger twin, identical to him, however born whit black hair were always best friends. However when they were 7 their mother gave birth to their younger sister. Even tough Kirito loved having a little sister to take care of, Kayaba didn't. For his she was a nuisance. This actually led him, to when she grew up, hate on her. This led Kirito, who was a bit overprotector torwards their sister, fight whit Kayaba countless times. Whit time, Kayaba grew an interes in alchemy, and due to his entire family being disapointed on him, he left in order to run from the situation he was and to become an alchemist. He learned alchemy whit one of the best, one said to be better than even his own father... The Fuher. Because of this he quickly grew into one of the most fearsome state alchemists in the entire country. He however, had other plans. He killed an entire village, and blamed his younger twin for it. Having his entire family turn against Kirito, and go for Kayaba, he became the new prefered son of the twins. After an year, the Fuher was assassinated, and he rose to take his place, due to the people's appeal. He is now the Fuher, and the younguest man to ever reach this rank in Amestris story. After achieving this rank, he ordered a man-hunt on his younger brother. The reason for why he started hating Kirito so much is unknown, but will be revealed trough the story.

Affiliation: Himself. He only goes what he does for himself, even if he led people to believe otherwise.

Offical Rank: Fuher.

Alchemy types: He has the power to transmute everything he touches. If he manages to touch someone's arm, he can transmute it into anything he wants or simply make it disapear. He can also change the appearance of other people and even himself. This way he changed his hair and eye color to fake a crime over the name of Kirito. This way, he can plot his schemes and now as the Fuher, he has the country on his hands manipulating everything, however whit the people believieng that he is a hero. He also know "Destructive alchemy" wich is the alchemy to destroy everything he touches. He tends to use this when in battle, over his "Copy" alchemy.

Other details: He knows a bit of Steel alchemy, so this way he can make his own weapons, even tough he has his own personal blade.

Known Family: Kurosu Hanashi. Father. Age: 45

Mami Hanashi. Mother. Age :44

Asuka Hanashi. Younguer sister. Age: 12

Kirito Hanashi. Twin brother. Age: 19

------------------------------------------------

There you go. Since you gave me the idea of making a criminal or a Fuher, I decided to use both, if it's ok whit you. I think I may have overpowere Kayaba a little bit, but his a villain after all so I hope it's ok. Also even tough Kirito's sword have very powerful alchemys, it also has very serious headbacks, to balance. Also he deosnt even know alchemy, so having a strong alchemy in his baldes is only to help him. He isn't good whit alchemy also, so even whit his baldes, he'll wont be able to use it very well. That's it. Hope you liked then!

The rain was both beautiful and annoying at the same time. Was it even possible for it to be both?

To State Alchemist, Gemma Einsam, it was. The pounding of the rain was getting on her nerves. The fact that it had soaked nearly every hair on her head and all the way through even her tough jacket didn't help her mood. Though looking at it had been nice enough at first, it had gotten old.

Her braided hair, darkened by the deluge, hung to the middle of her back, held tightly by a small tie at it's end. Her automail arm gleamed with wet streaks. She found herself becoming uncomfortable in her wet clothes.

"Damn," she muttered. "I'd better find a place to stay, though I'm sure they wouldn't be fond of having a State Alchemist around..."

As soon as she had spoken this, the headlights of a vehicle flashed in front of her. As quickly as she could, she made her way to the car before it could move. She carefully knocked on the window. As it rolled down, she was surprised to find a rather small white-haired man sitting in the backseat. Almost as if on cue, Gemma saluted as soon as he opened his eyes.

"Führer, sir." It was Kayaba Hanashi.

The man blinked once, as if surprised to find Gemma there. "Gemma Einsam, the Chaos Alchemist. What could you be doing knocking on my window at this hour?"

Gemma grimaced. "I'm sorry, I had no indication that this was your vehicle..."

He waved the apology aside. "That's quite alright. What was it you needed?"

"Would you happen to know the nearest Inn?" she asked outright.

Führer narrowed his eyes. "Just around the corner to the left."

Gemma let her hand drop as she looked behind herself. She spotted the lights in the windows and her face lit up. "Thank you, sir!"

"Hold on a moment!" he shouted just as she began to head off. She turned her head, confused. "Why don't you ride with me? I had an assignment in mind for you anyway."

Gemma hesitated, but nodded and opened the door. Slamming it shut behind her, she situated herself in the seat across from her commanding officer. "So..." she said after a moment. "What was the assignment you spoke of?"

"I want you to hunt someone down for me." he said simply, staring out the window.

After waiting a moment for an explanation, Gemma spoke. "Who?"

"A murderer. The man who made mice meat of my family. My Twin brother, Kirito Hanashi." he said, turning a pair of lustful eyes on the older woman.Gemma held his gaze steadily, something even his right hand man could not do. "It is also said that Kirito is involved with the order of Alchemists that have been terrorizing the East and south cities."

"Why would he join them? That would only give us another reason to sick the investigators on him."

"So he can have a form of protection. The guild will kill members of the military on the spot, unless they're disguised somehow." the King replies simply.

"Oh." Gemma replied numbly. She had heard much about the man from the Führer himself, but had otherwise lost interest in his case. Several years ago, Kirito had plead not guilty to the murder of both his own family, and the murder of the entire Elric Family, as well as their distant relatives. The people were outraged and tried to kill him themselves, but with his own form of unique alchemy, Kirito made his escape. Gemma had been sixteen when it had unfolded.

Gemma was twenty, and smarter than most people gave her credit for, but moments like these, where she found herself numb with speechlessness were not too rare. It was nearly every other day that she refused to say something so that she didn't look like a fool.

He turned his eyes on her once more. "It seems you are eager to get some rest. You may stay in my Home tonight, if you wish."

Gemma shook her head. "I have renewed energy, thanks. It seems all I needed was a good conversation to get revitalized. I've got a name, now all I need is a face and I can get going."

"Well, he's my twin, so recognizing him should not be too hard. Look out for Nightbringer and Dawnbreaker. Those are his notorious Alchemy swords, with the ability to copy any alchemy they touch. He wears everything in black. Black trench coat, pants, boots, you get the idea I assume...?"

Gemma nodded. "Yes, sir."

Kayaba nodded firmly, and smiled. "Then you best get going. I've heard reports that Kirito was seen in the South City. I think it would be best to start looking there,"

Gemma exited the car without a moments hesitation.

"Good luck, Chaos. If he isn't in the South City, try Dublith or Rush Valley. Reports came in a few months ago that he had a secret home in both places."

With that, Gemma was left alone in the streets of the South City.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The rain was really annoying at that point. Gemma, in all her years of sleeping through riots and explosions, could not find the ability to sleep through the thunderstorm. She sat upright in her bed, hoping her glare would stop the rain. Unfortunately, it didn't, and she was left in her Inn room staring at the window like a mouse would at the trap. She quietly uncovered herself and got off the bed, stretching. She stood for a moment and sighed. She grabbed her coat and draped it over her shoulders. She pulled on her boots and walked out the door. Seeing the hallway empty brought her back to her childhood, when her father had been a drunkard and her mother too. They both went drinking on nights like that, when the storm wouldn't let up. Gemma sighed and sauntered down the stairs, coming to a stop on the last step.

She saw a single candle glowing on the center table, a lone figure finishing their meal. Gemma held her breath, hoping not to be noticed by the mysterious person, but failed. She was standing in plain sight as they turned their head directly at her. She flinched.

The figure, now obviously a man, stood for a moment before walking out the door. Gemma watched him go, and as soon as he was gone she raced for the table.

Minutes passed as she sifted through the remains on the mans tray, finding nothing. She sighed and sat in his chair. She began to subconsciously move the tray in circles. She stopped when she heard something strange noise.

She quit moving the tray a lifted it up, only to find a folded note underneath.

Gemma gingerly took the note and unfolded it. She saw a few words scrawled at an odd angle on the torn page. The handwriting wasn't the neatest at first, but after a few moments she managed to decipher the note. Her eyes widened.

She sat back in her chair, a new wave of exhaustion overcoming her. She placed a cold metal hand on her temple as she made her way back up to her own room. She shut the door quietly behind her and let her coat drop to the floor. She grabbed it and hung it on the hook to the right of her bed. She quietly got back under the covers and was out before her head even hit the soft pillow.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Gemma had risen early in the morning some days later, her baggage light and casual. With her she carried only a small briefcase full of official documents she had received from the South City's Archive building. In her hands she held the official case report for Kirito Hanashi. He had plead not guilty on all counts of murder and manslaughter and complained that he had been framed. Gemma couldn't help but think that it never added up, really. There was a possibility that Central had something to hide, but she had never considered that before. She didn't know of anyone with the ability to copy another person's appearance, except for Kayaba. He was nice enough not to be risen to suspicion, and he was the Führer, so it would have been treason to accuse him of such a heinous crime.

Gemma mulled it over in her head a bit longer as she reached the station. She retired on the bench closest to the exit and sighed. she put the papers in her case and closed her eyes.

She was then approached by one giant of a man. "Excuse me?" his voice boomed, waking her from her near slumber.

Gemma sat up. "Can I help you, Brigadier General?" she said, coolly.

Brigadier General Armstrong, sporting a bit of stubble on his chin and his regulated uniform, stood ahead of Gemma. He cast a large shadow over the girl, menacing in size. "The Chaos Alchemist, Gemma Einsam."

"Yes?"

"I hear you've been put on the Hanashi case..." he began sullenly. Gemma cocked a brow.

"What's this, Armstrong? Concerned for my safety, are we?" she joked, smirking.

"He is a dangerous character." Armstrong justified. "At any rate, I was on my way back to central to meet with Lieutenant General Mustang and the other Alchemists."

Gemma cursed under her breath. "Damn. The meeting was today, wasn't it?" Armstrong confirmed her fears with a simple nod. "God dammit..." she murmured.

"If I may," the older man began. "I can put in a word for you. You are on orders from the Führer, so Mustang can't be very upset with you."

Gemma smiled. "Thanks. That'd be great. I'd rather not talk to him..."

"Don't worry about a thing. I'll tell him the whole situation." Armstrong reaffirmed.

Gemma smiled. She perked up as she heard her train approaching. She felt like an old man as she got up from the bench. She picked up her case and walked casually to the edge of the platform. Armstrong was a few steps behind her.

"Where are you headed?" he asked.

Gemma shrugged her shoulder. "Rush Valley. I received an anonymous tip a few nights ago. I figure that's as good a place to start as any."

"I see." Armstrong replied. "Well, I should be off. I have an errand or two to run before my train arrives. I wish the best of luck to you, Ms. Einsam."

"Thanks, Alex." Gemma called over the whistle. She raised a hand in goodbye as she boarded her train and took a seat, staring out the window as the train pulled away and left the platform far behind, merely a shadow in the day's fading light.

Kirito was in his home in Rush Valley. He didn't used to go out as much, as he had to disguise himself. And he didn't liked the idea. Not at all. However there was nothing he could do. The entire government was against him. But he knew the true perpetrator. He knew the true criminal. No one more than Kayaba Hanashi, his twin brother. He couldn't understand why his brother, who he lvoed so much would do this to him. The idea was inconciveable, yet true. He got off the window so he couldn't be spotted on his black clothes. He walked back to his room and there, on top of his bed, his swords were. Nightbringer and Dawnbreaker. He picked then up, and walked stared at both of them. He couldn't believe the life he was having. It was a torture. Being chased by the people of his own country, for something he didn't did. He grabbed a grey overcoat, and placed in on top of him. He head to buy supplies. He also grabbed his swords and hid it under his grey overcoat. After all the last thing he wanted was to be spotted.

He was against killing. He wouldn't kill civilians. Never. Even if he died from that. He almost died back in that day. Memories of that day came back to torment him.

---------------------------------------------------------------

"I would never kill someone!! Never!!!" He said slamming his hand on the desk. He was on Central's tribunal.

"The people believe you are guilty. And we have this photo as proof." said the judge.

"This isn't me! I swear!" Kirito said, afraid of the situation he was in.

"Also there are reports that you were the one to kill the entire Elric family, and even your own blood."

"You have no proof of that!" shouted Kirito, who was immediately held by the oifficials tasked to look out for any strange movements.

"Yes we do. Your younguer sister survived and she told us everything. She told that she only survived because she hid. And you couldn't find her. She pictured the entire scene for us."

Kirito suddenly lost his will to fight. His sister, Asuka... He loved her so much that he even blamed himself for spoiling her. He was always overprotector over her. He sit on the chair and the officers let him.

Suddenly two people entered the tribunal. The Fuher followed by his right hand. Kayaba Hanashi.

"Kayaba..." Kirito whispered to himself. He never felt an anger so great torwards his brother as in that moment. His brother as soon as he looked at Kirito, grinned sarcastically. Kirito got up in the same moment being held by the officers once more.

"It was you!! You and your stupid alchemy!!! I know it was you!!!" Kirito tried to get the officers off of him but he couldnt. "How could you... How could you!!?"

As soon as everyone turned their attention to Kayaba, his smile was gone, and he had a serious face, showing pity and sadnnes. "My brother... I never wished for this to happen. I truly never did. However you chose this path. And even tough I love you brother, justice is always at first."

Kirito was about to curse him, but them... His sister came in.

"Asuka..." he said. His sister however hid behind Kayaba in fear. Kayaba in turn cuddled her.

"I'll be taking care of her now. Making sure she will surpass the scene you made her witness and grown into a remarkable lady. I'll wont let you destroy our family more than you already did Kirito."

Kirito's heart raced. "Asuka..." he said, as he gritted his teeth.

Asuka however evaded even looking at him.

The people in the public court all waved and cheered Kayaba. The Fuher smiled at the sight of his beloved pupil, who would take his place in the not to distant future.

"Silence!" said the judge. "Now why do you come here your Highness?" asked him, as he bowed.

The Fuher nodded. "I come here to sentence Kirito myself." he turned his attention to Kirito, who had tears all over his face. "I saw the pain he caused to my pupil and their little sister... The pain they caused to them was unimaginable. Also he destroyed the ELric family, who were great friends of mine. Who will he kill next? He is a danger to all of Amestris. And as such, I'll sentence him myself."

The Fuher turned to Kirito. "You Kirito Hanashi is sentenced to perpetual prison. Any chance of resisting will be seen as an act of agression, and it will not be tolerated."

Kirito eyes widened. Perpetual prison? For something he never did?

"That is unacceptable!!" Kirito shouted at the Fuher.

The entire Court shut, at what Kirito just did. Shout at the Fuher. This alone was enough to go to prison.

"You have quite the nerver to shout at your Fuher." he said.

Two officers appeared, one whit handcuffs and the other whit his hands empty. The last one walked closer to Kirito."You shall give your weapons."

The Fuher remained serious. "As a product of your father's work, Nightbringer and Dawnbreaker will be on Kayaba's possession. He will make sure to put them to good use. To the good of people, and not his own interests."

Kirito refused to give in his swords. As the officer was about to take his sword by force, Kirito screamed.

"NEVER!!" As he said so he kicked the officer, and ducked. He rolled and whit his feet made the two officers behind him fall to their backs. As soon as he got up, he saw the people in the court all revolting against him, and going for him. He tried to run but he was he saw a sword coming to his neck. He grabbed both of his swords, the Nightbringer and Dawnbreaker, and blocked it whit both swords

He jumped backwards and saw Kayaba.

"I'll wont permit that you get out of here Kirito!" said Kayaba, the entonation of his voice, motivating the people to rise against him. Your punishment for going against the Fuher's orders is death!!"

Kirito screamed in anger and charged at his brother. Kayaba blocked it, his face showing seriousness, in order for the people to see him as the hero. Kirito attacked him whit the Nightbringer, and as soon as Kayaba blocked it, he came for another move using his Dawnbreaker.

As he did, he sliced Kayaba's shoulder, and as Kayaba fell, Kirito waved the Dawnbreaker and as he did it glowed in a golden light. However the Fuher, ran as fast as he could attacking Kirito whit his gravitational alchemy. As he punched Kirito on his chest, he was sent flying, the wall of the court destroyed as he passed by, landing on the ground roughly. As soon as he got up the people went against him. An immense group screaming curses and swears, moving against him. He gritted his teeth. Then he heard a shot. As soon as he did, he waved the Dawnbreaker, and a shield of a substance similar to light, was created. The bullets his, cracking the barrier. And then a ball of fire came in his direction. He placed his Nightbringer on this front, holding it in a defensive position. The alchemist that shot the ball, was smiling, imagining how Kirito would cry and scream as he was bruned alive. However it didn't happen. The fire was absorbed, and in the moment that Kirito was about to wave his sword to send it back to his opponent, he remembered the innocents. And whit it, he held himself and ran. He made his way to an alley and kept running the mass of people behind him. And when he got out in the streets again, a man stabbed him whit a kife from behind, hitting his shoulder. He screamed in pain. He kicked the man and kept running and as soon as no one was in the radius, he used his Nightbringer. It glowed on a purple light and as he waved it, a ball of black fire came out of it hitting the ground, creating an immense explosion. After the smoke cleared, he was no longer there. Kayaba appeared on the scene and punched the ground. The Fuher behind him.

"Search for him! He can't be far!! And as soon as you do, don't kill him! I want him to live the rest of his days rotting in a prison cell."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kirito kept walking on the street. He entered a restaurant and there he ate. He wasn't rising any suspicion. Life in this city was good. As good as it could be. There were no State Alchemists around, wich was good.

After that event, the Fuher reamined the order of perpetual prison on him. However not to many years later, the Fuher was murdered, and Kayaba rose to take his place. And after that, he ordered a man-hunt on him.

As he made his way out of the restaurant, he decided to go to the train station, to see the trains. it was a calming scene for him. He liked watching the trains come and gone, as if nothing else mattered. And so he did. He sit in a bench and there he stayed for 3 hours. When he got up and was about to leave, a train stopped. And a woman was the first passenger to come out. He stared at her. He never saw her before and her overcoat wasn't the style that the Rush Valley used to sell. It semmed like something from Central. And then he noticed... A silver watch was in her right hand. His eyes widened in fear.

"A State Alchemist? Here? Did they... found me?"

Another day another character :)

Name: Wilka (Will for short) Narcas

Age: 30 years old

Gender: Male

Height: 6"2'

Weight: 168lbs

Hair Colour and style: Brown. Relatively spiky and untidy but still looks presentable.

Eye Colour: Dull Green.

Appearance: Wilka is quite lean for his height, he doesn't have a great deal of fat or muscle mass on his body which gives off the pretence he is not too strong whereas his muscles are quite strong. He has alchemy circles tattooed on his back. He wears a standard Amestris military coat. Navy blue with white trim. His is usually open revealing a pale blue turtleneck shirt that has his family crest on the left chest (A gold viper with two swords crossed at its neck. The blades are silver and point down towards the bottom of a shield like border) His coat has his alchemy circle on his back and left chest as well as some white fingerless gloves he carries with him that also have his alchemy circle on the back of them. He wears the military standard black trousers and boots as well. When off duty he dresses far more casually.

Personality: Wilka is a very lackadaisical person. He will seldom do his paperwork, often off loading it onto people of lower rank. He is a friendly guy but can be somewhat bothersome and irritating if you do not know him well. He is fond of alcohol but is no alcoholic, although he will drink at absurd hours of the day, his preferred drink being whisky. He is fairly loud person and will give his honest opinion no matter the situation. The scary thing about him though is the ease he can kill a person with no obvious signs of guilt or regret. This is down to what he did in the Ishvalan War though he still has trouble talking or even thinking about what he did there.

Background: Wilka grew up in a relatively wealthy family on the outskirts of a small town. He had no siblings and his parents were often too busy to have any time for him so he often had to entertain himself with some of the staff. He was quite a social child, leaving the grounds of his moderately sized home to walk around town and make friends, although having a rather large bodyguard follow you around does deter a few people from pleasant conversation.

At the age of 7 he gave his duty filled bodyguard the slip, running into a young Roy Mustang. The two hung out together for the day and became good friends after that. By the age of 12 he had learnt basic alchemy and after a lengthy argument about what a boy of his standing should be doing, he left to get trained in alchemy. By 18 he had nearly perfected his brand of alchemy becoming a state alchemist not long after that. He was put into the Ishvalan War in his early 20's were he was charged with taking out officials and small contingents of Ishvalan warriors before the extermination order came through to wipe them all out. After the war he dropped out of contact with Mustang, transferring to East City to clear up Ishbal as penance for his actions.

He transferred back to Central at age 30 to join Roy Mustang's group of loyal soldiers. By this point in time, of equal rank to Mustang.

Affiliation: Amestris Military.

Official Position: Lieutenant General Rank. Also a State Alchemist.

Types of Alchemy: He specialise in what he refers to as Storm Alchemy. He is able to control the atoms in the air freely, being able to create different effects by using the atoms in different ways. More instance creating high and lower pressure zones to create wind or other wind based phenomena, change air temperature, refract the light differently, create waves or blades of atoms to attack with and even control the concentrations of gas in the air. He can even remove gasses from peoples lungs completely or change them with another.

He was given the name Raging Storm alchemist upon receiving his State Alchemist position.

Fighting Style and/or Weapons: While not being an exceptional hand to hand fighter, he has a decent amount of skill. Though his movements are rather basic but effective. He is a good shot, serving a part of his stint in Ishbal as a sniper. He carries a M1911 8mm pistol with him usually as well as a combat knife but that is as far as he goes carrying weapons. If hand rifles or machine guns he can use them.

Known Family: Elizabeth Narcas (Age 61) Mother
William Narcas (Age 67) Father
Riza Hawkeye (Age 29) Cousin

As she stepped off the train, Gemma sighed. It had been a longer ride than she had anticipated. She had spent most of it staring out the window, relatively bored, and had arrived in a place that was worse for wear.

Almost as soon as she came in contact with the cement of the platform, she felt eyes on her. She looked around, spotting no one. There were benches strewn everywhere, some laying on their sides, other in pieces. It seemed like nobody really cared about the state the place was in. It seemed to her that it was nearly deserted. Though it was only the evening, the place was near empty.

Gemma couldn't shake the air of suspicion that surrounded the place. It was the time of day when even the blazing sands of Rush Valley looked like flames.

She pressed on, unaware of how long she had been standing there. Already bothered by the heat, Gemma removed her overcoat. As she walked along the crumbling paths of Rush Valley, she saw nothing out of the ordinary. So as not to appear suspicious, Gemma stuffed her coat into the briefcase, and hid her watch from plain sight.

"Excuse me?"

Gemma turned to come face to face with a short old man. His wrinkled face was riddled with sweat and stress lines. Gemma bent down to smile at him. "How can I help you?"

"Could you be so kind as to carry this for me?" he asked, humbly holding out a large basket of laundry. Gemma frowned for a split second before quickly grabbing the basket. She hefted it over her shoulder and carried the case with her left arm. The man looked on in awe of her arm, as though he had never seen automail before. "You're so strong. Is there nothing that today's youth cannot do?"

Gemma smiled sheepishly. "Well, you know. I train my body a lot..."

The silence that ensued in the following minutes was not uneasy. Gemma had grown to e at ease with the old man, finding him to be the interesting sort. As she helped him carry his laundry home, the time ticked on. By the time she was able to see the lights of his home, the moon was high in the sky.

"Sir..." Gemma began. The man turned his ears to her. "Would you happen to know of anyone around here who wears all black? Someone with black hair and eyes."

The man nodded instantly. "I do. I took him in when he arrived here a few years back. He said he was on the run."

"Does he have a pair of swords that use Alchemy?" she asked. The man nodded again. Gemma continued to press on. "How old is he?"

"He is about nineteen. Why do you ask?"

She grinned. "No reason."

They had finally arrived at the door. Gemma waited as the man opened it for her and led the way inside. She carefully maneuvered around the door frame and set the basket down on the floor. Gemma looked around. The place was grimy and unkempt. She doubted that he had any running water or any form of refrigeration. Plumbing was out of the question, she could tell from the smell of the home. She tried her best not to let the disgust show through.

"The boy should be back in the morning."

She whipped her head in his direction. "The morning? Isn't it dangerous at night? Where could he even be?"

He shrugged. "He likes to wander around the cliff sides at night, around the bridge to Dimitri's shop."

Gemma pulled up a map of Rush Valley, which she had bought at the local shop. The bridge was located to the northwest of her location and she could reach it in minutes flat. She put away the map and ran for the door. Without explaining herself to the older man, she left through the door and ran into the night.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

She slowed down as she reached the cliffs. Gemma walked slowly at their edge, peering over from time to time. She would hear the occasional shuffle of her own feet, but nothing more. Once she spotted the bridge, Gemma smiled. It wouldn't be too long now.

As she payed closer attention to the bridge itself, she noticed a lone figure traversing it's length. She grinned to herself.

She clasped her hands together and held them to the ground. The terrain shook and reformed. Steps began to appear and bridge the gap between herself and the perpetrator. She ran along their length.

The figure noticed her from the moment she had used Alchemy, and had broke into a run.

{Play Music}(repeat if necessary)

"Oh no you fucking don't!" Gemma cried. She could see from here that he was the one. The swords were unmistakable.

The boy ran harder and faster, trying his best to get away from Gemma. He threw up dust and dirt from the ground beneath the two. When he suddenly veered to the left, Gemma was sent careening into a solid rock wall. She quickly recovered and pursued him, climbing the sheer face of the rock with little effort. As she reached the top, she took a moment to survey. She didn't see him, but she could hear him. She closed her eyes and concentrated on his breathing. It was hard to tell it's direction. The sound filled her ears, but after a moment she heard it. A shuffle of rubble to the far left of her position. She darted form the top of the rocks.

She kept up her pace and with each footfall knew she was close. The rustle of his cloak and shirt were near enough for her to grab, but she didn't. Gemma suddenly veered to the right and circled around him. She came to a halt directly in front of the boy and he cried out. Unable to stop himself, he crashed into Gemma who pinned him to the nearest wall.

"Are you Kirito Hanashi?" she asked.

He responded with a quick jab to he ribs. Gemma retreated, letting him go. He drew a black sword, double-edged. The gleaming Alchemy circle at it's tip shined a bright red. A sudden wave of pressure washed over Gemma and she was forced to the ground. Gravitational Alchemy...?

"What the fuck?!"

"I was saving that..." he spoke slowly, as if to finally show signs of caution. Gemma forced herself up, clasping her hands together. She placed them onto her own body, drawing out a sword of her own, similar in appearance to the infamous swords used by the former King Bradley. The boy gasped. "The Chaos Alchemist!"

Gemma smirked.

"You drew the blade from your own body...?"

"I can use my own bodily elements to create things. Iron from my blood, carbon from my muscles, and Cobalt from my bones." she explained. "Even the most elementary of Alchemists could figure that out..."

She raced forward and attempted a thrust, only to be thwarted by his second sword. A white light emanated from it's circle and a shield suddenly appeared. Gemma backed away as he pushed it closer to her. He suddenly appeared behind her. She turned in time to duck under one of his wide swings, but she was clipped by his vertical swing. She growled and lunged for him. She grabbed him by his collar. Her foot rose to meet and disarm his left hand. The blade went flying and landed several feet away. Gemma twisted him around and pined him to the ground. She pinned him to the rocks with a simple move; she thrust the sword through his hand.

"Gah!"

He turned an angry eye on here and swiped with his remaining good hand. He caught her just underneath the right side of her chest. She was forced to back away from him and roll out of harms way as he threw her sword back at her. She grabbed it and made a desperate grab for his right arm. He pulled it away and thrust forward. Gemma leaped to the side and brought his good arm behind him with her remaining hand, and held her blade to his neck.

"You lose."

"You lose."

Kirito tries to move but Gemma forces his arm and he screams in pain.

"Why... Why is this happening?" Kirito asked himself.

Gemma stood there, whitout saying anything.

Kirito screamed in anger, and tried to break free once more. "You're not escaping if that's what you're trying to do."

Kirito then enraged by those words, let a single shout, and his black sword came to him. He grabbed it whit his other arm, and as soon as the handle of the blade touched his hand, he turned to slice her. She let him go and ducked to avoid the sword. Then whit another shout, his other sword, came to his good hand, and then when he was about to attack her and kill her, she blocked both swords whit her own. She let a single 'tsc' out of her mouth.

"You would have killed me, if I hadn't got my sword up in time. You're really a criminal. A killer."

Kirito's eyes widened. "NO!!"

Gemma let a face of surprise at his reaction. Usually it was in situations like these, that perpetrators, murderers, would show their true selfs.

"What are you saying?" Gemma asked.

"I would'nt kill you, even if you hadn't got your sword in time! You have nothing to do whit this!! You are innocent!"

Gemma walked backwards, the sound of clashing suddenly stopped, due to their sword not being cashing against each other. "What do you mean?" she asked.

"I'm not a killer. It doesn't matter what the news say, or even that stupid Fuher of yours! I'm no killer! Never was! Never will be! I'm innocent." tears started coming down of his eyes. "I would never kill someone... Specially my family..." He let cries of pain and anger come out. Gemma stood there just watching and listening. Kirito suddenly got serious. "I've been framed. By someone. Someone you may know well. But I assure you, that I know him twice as better than you do. He entrusted me whit a crime I did not commit. It doesn't matter what the news are saying. I'm no criminal."

"You're a liar." Gemma said. "We have proof that you murdered that entire vilage. Proof that you killed your parents, and only let your younguer sister live because you didn't found her in the house and called it a day. We have proof of everything..."

"NO!! I would never kill Asuka! She's... She's my beloved sister..." he said as more tears came running down his cheek. "That day... that day was so painful..." he said. Gemma didn't understood, but Kirito was clearly talking about the day his sister saw him as a monster. After all he did for her.

"I was always overprotective over her... I loved her so much... More than anything... There's no way I would had killed her!! NEVER!!"

Kirito took some time to breath as he was to over himself. He calmed a bit before continuing.

"I never killed anyone. I don't have any blood on my hands. Even at the day of my judgement, I didn't killed a single soul... You can check on your reports..."

Gemma remembered the reports. Truly after that event, he never killed anyone. In fact, even state alchemists who came hunting him, were defeated, but not killed.

"Strange isn't it?" said Kirito.

"Then why would you have killed thos people before?"

"Like I told you I didn't. I was framed."

"It is clearly you in those photos!"

"The body present in it may be identical to mine. But it ins't me."

Gemma didn't understood a word. "Then who would it be?" she asked sarcastically.

"You know... You just need to connect the dots."

"Why can't you just tell me? Or are you lying and you didn't came up whit a ficitonal name yet?"

"I'm not telling you because I'll be the one to bring him to justice. I'll be the one to clear my own name."

As Kirito said so his black sword, brighting in a red light, let out a balck smoke. Gemma coughed for a bit, and then when the smoke was cleared... He had vanished. She didn't cared tha much, Her sword simply dissapearing in thin air, it's elements used, coming back to her body. In fact, she felt he spoke the truth. Even tough the she had proofs that it was him.

"Am I crazy, to believe in this? Or was I simply led to it? He spoke of it so convincely... I din't saw a trace of lying on his words... Could it be... He's speaking the truth?"

In fact, she was the one who let him go. If she wanted she could had just followed his trails, left in the ground. She stared at them, thinking if she should follow them. But as an State Alchemist, she couldn't arrest an innocent. And after all, even tough he would not be able to kill her, even if it was his intention he didn't attacked her. He simply defended himself. So in a sense, she owned him for it.

But if it was true what he spoke of, who could the true perpetrator be? She decided to let him go. If she had to, she could easily find him again and kill him. Yes. Such was the punishment given to him by the Fuher himself. She was surprised at hearing it from the Fuher's mouth, as Kayaba, is actually Kirito's twin. Kayaba however was a hero, and to even suspect of the Fuher was a crime.

She simply left the scene as if nothing had happened, thinking about his words...

Mustang was tapping his desk with a pen rather impatiently. Most of the alchemists had not turned up yet. Many were apparently on jobs else where. Riza Hawkeye stood straight next to him, occasionally looking to her left to note the face of her superior. Down the room from Mustang's desk was a large rectangular table, of which four of the seats were occupied by Jean Havoc, Kain Fuery, Vato Falman and Heymans Breda. They were all chatting among themselves before the meeting began, seemingly merry to the naked eye but they were anxious. They knew what the meeting was about before it had even started and they were not looking forward to what was going to be discussed. However the atmosphere was somewhat disturbed by a rather loud knock at the double doors at the opposite side of the office.

"Enter" Mustang called, his tapping momentarily ceased as the doors opened revealing the broad frame of Brigadier General Armstrong. He strolled into the room before saluting to Mustang, receiving the same treatment from the rest of the room.

"I'm sorry for being late, Lieutenant General," Armstrong apologised "I ran into our Chaos Alchemist at Central station. I had a brief hat with her before she went off on her mission."

Mustang smiled while somehow managing to simultaneously curse under his breath "So another one isn't able to make it, well that's fine." They all watched a vein pulse in his temple "That makes all but one alchemist missing..."

At that ill timed moment the last Alchemist turned up, opening the doors and walking through them so relaxed and oblivious to the man who sat at the desk a few meters in front of him. The alchemist had black stubble around much of his jaw and upper lip, his hair messy and a weak smell of alcohol radiated from him. It would seem to the casual observer that this man had a rough night, on the contrary however. He just didn't take much pride in his appearance.

"Sorry I'm late Roy, I had a prior engagement." The man said as he pulled his blue military jacket into a reasonably straight state but leaving it unbuttoned.

Jean Havoc waved his hand in front of his nose as the smell of alcohol swamped his nostrils. "Sheesh, I guess that prior engagement was in a bar, right?" He looked over as the man sat next to him, quickly smelling his breath and then taking some gum out of his pocket and began chewing it quietly.

Mustang shook his head in exasperation. "Wilka Narcas, why can you never turn up when I ask you to?" Wilka merely shrugged. "You've known me for this long Roy, did you really expect me to turn up on time?"

Roy laughed causing Riza to smile, she hadn't seen her superior this happy in a while. It seems her cousin was the one of the few close friends he had remaining. "I guess I didn't. You were never one for punctuality, Will." Riza bent down so she could look her superior in the face more clearly. "Sir, maybe its best we get the meeting started. We can have time for pleasantries afterwards."

"I suppose your right, Lieutenant Hawkeye" Responded Mustang. He then cleared his throat, catching the attention of the entire room. "Aright, the reason I called this meeting is due to our criminal friend, Kirito Hanashi." Alex Louise Armstrong held up his hand for attention "I was under the impression that Miss Einsam was ordered to find and capture or eliminate Kirito Hanashi."

Mustang closed his eyes, thinking of an appropriate response. The rain tapping the windows behind Mustang was becoming heavier every second, the sound of the rain was beginning to fill the atmosphere of the room. "That, Brigadier General, is precisely why we are having this discussion" He stood up from behind his desk and wandered around it to the left. He continued talking as he walked. "Gemma Einsam is a good alchemist. There is no denying or disputing that. She could overtake the Elric brothers in both fame and ability in a few years." Many eyes closed at the mention of their name, even now the loss was still painful to admit. "But she still lacks experience and that lack of experience will lead to failures" Fuery was the next to raise his hand.

"What are you getting at sir?"

Wilka snorted at the question, causing all eyes to fall on him. "It's pretty obvious when you think about it. He's basically getting at that there is a high chance of Kirito Hanashi managing to elude or escape her." He looked at Mustang for approval.

"Yes, that is precisely what I'm getting at. Kirito Hanashi is dangerous as you all know. What I'm proposing is that we as a group take over from her if she fails. We can do more as a unit than as a single alchemist trying to chase another."

Wilka nodded. "That makes perfect sense." He looked at Mustang properly "What about the "Chaos" Alchemist then? Do we get her involved? After all he is more of a lone wolf character than anything else and even if she does agree to help you, if she knows I'm working with yah, you can say goodbye to her even bothering to help."

Mustang nodded slowly, sighing as he did. "I know you and her are not exactly the best of friends but you've managed to work alongside hotheads like her before. Can't you just try and not annoy her? I wouldn't want a repeat incident of what happened six months ago."

The whole room shivered at the thought of that. None of them would forget that one little argument they had that turned into one of the most destructive fights Central had seen since the time of Fuhrer King Bradley.

Breda looked over at the lazy Alchemist across the table from him. "I doubt any of us would want something like that to happen again, but odds are we'll see some fireworks go off." He shook his head. "I don't know what it is about you Lieutenant-General but you manage to rub her the wrong way, waayyy to easy."

Mustang stopped what would have been a endless conversation before it even began. "Alright then. We will wait until the Chaos Alchemist returns before we talk any further. Your dismissed for the day." As Wilka rose to leave "I don't know where your going Will, your buying the first round."

Gemma sat atop the roof of the old mans house, checking through the papers that she had been given. She had looked over the photo multiple times, but had found nothing out of the ordinary. She had looked over his case report many times, and he had been described as wearing exactly the outfit she had just seen him in. But, the tone of his voice had told her that he wasn't lying. Even if there wasn't very much, there had to be some truth to what he had been saying, right?

So there she sat, completely stumped. She was unable to figure out just what it was he wanted her to figure out. She sighed and grouped all of the reports and bio's together, placing them back into the suitcase and shutting it. She dragged it with her as she dismounted the flat roof and began to make way for the nearest payphone.

As she walked, the scenery was changed drastically for the way it was during the daytime. Everything seemed to pop out at her; the shadows, the sounds of automail being assembled and the sounds of bar fights.

She managed to make it to the phone with little trouble. She inserted the required amount of change and dialed the only number she happened to know by heart. The other line rang for only a moment before it was answered. "This is the office of Roy Mustang."

"Hey."

"Oh! What a coincidence! I was just speaking about you to the other Alchemists." he said, sounding rather joyous.

"Not too much talking was done, then, I presume?" Gemma asked.

"No."

"Good." Gemma nodded. "Anyway, Mustang, I need to ask a favor of you."

He snickered into the phone. "Just make sure you pay me for my services."

"Haha, very funny," Gemma spoke into the line sarcastically. "What I need is a list of all of the certified Alchemists in Amestris."

Mustang made an audible sound of confusion. "What could you possibly need that for?"

"Kirito mentioned something to me, and I want to be sure that the hunch I have is correct."

"You saw him?!" Mustang shouted. "And you didn't arrest the kid?"

"While it may be true that he got away from me, don't get the wrong idea. I let him go." Gemma responded casually. "I didn't feel like beating him senseless."

"But that's your job," he countered. "You didn't come into the military hoping not to be asked to kill, or at least injure someone, did you?"

"Of course not," Gemma replied. "I'm simply taking what he said into account."

"And what did he say?" Mustang asked, sounding suspicious.

"Simply that he was innocent."

"And you believed him?" Mustang scoffed.

"No." Gemma replied harshly. "I'm simply taking everything I know into account, in order to come up with a feasible hypothesis."

"Whatever you say, Chaos. I'll have someone there with the documents by Seven o'clock tomorrow morning."

"Thanks, Mustang."

He hung up. Gemma lay the phone down on the receiver, bending over to pick up her case. She walked out of the payphone, setting it down next to the booth. She was asleep moments later, her head leaning against the cold glass of the phone booth as she awaited the morning.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Gemma sat, waiting impatiently for the military officer with the list to arrive. She sat on the bench, checking her watch every now and again. After about thirty minutes she began to pace around the platform, muttering to herself.

Minutes after she began to start up her nasty habit, a train could be heard in the distance. Gemma immediately rushed to the edge of the platform. She looked at the front of the train, seeing if she could I.D. it by the color of the cap at the nose of the front car. The color was a deep green, signifying Central Command.

At pulled into the station, coming to a halt and letting out its many passengers. Among them was a very familiar face. She could only help but chuckle as General Armstrong saluted her.

"Ms. Einsam."

"General."

They both relaxed and sat on a bench. Alex sifted through his jackets spare pockets and brought out a bound stack of papers. "General Mustang sent me with these."

Gemma took them and immediately began looking through the names. "Thanks." She was looking for anyone with an odd or unique form of Alchemy, something that would allow them to take the shape of someone else, or mimic their appearance. Alex began to watch her over her shoulder curiously. Gemma turned a blind eye to him. "Shouldn't you be getting back to Central?"

"Yes, well, the next train doesn't come for a few hours," he explained. "I'm afraid that you're stuck with me for now."

Gemma smiled. "Then I could use your help."

Armstrong cocked his head. "Whatever for?"

Gemma handed him the list. "Can you tell me if there are any people within Amestris that have the ability to completely copy another persons appearance?"

Armstrong took a moment to think. "There was the man, Peter Rough. He was a State Alchemist until recently, when he was killed in an accident. Other than him, the only one I can think of is the Führer himself."

Gemma immediately grabbed the photo from the case. She looked it over one last time. Bingo. "General, look at this," she said, handing him the photo. He took it gingerly, and examined it.

"This is the photo that was all over the papers. What is special about it?" he asked.

"Look, right above his right eye, there is a single lock of white hair. And that stance? That is the stance of a novice." she explained.

"Now that you mention it, the white hair is in plain sight," he admitted. "And, the stance, please explain how you know that."

"General, I am an avid swordsman. I know when somebody is a novice, and the man I fought last night was no stranger to combat when using swords. I doubt that even four years ago, at age fifteen, that he would have been enough of a beginner to stand like that when using a double sword technique." Gemma explained. "And, another thing. How do you even think they would have gotten this picture anyway?"

Alex hesitated. "I see your point. But what are you even getting at?"

"The Führer's Alchemy allows him to change his appearance, does it not? Well, because Kirito is his twin, it would have been easy for him to copy the rest of him as well. The only thing he would have needed to change would be his hair and eye colors." Gemma paused to let that sink in. Alex's eyes widened, and she continued. "As far as I know, Kayaba Hanashi is not an avid swordsman, and would have been a complete beginner four years ago."

"So... you're saying that..." Alex could barely hold back his anger. "You mean... The Füher did this?"

Gemma nodded. "Exactly."

Alex placed a hand on his forehead and ran it over his face. "But why...?"

Gemma shrugged. "It seems to me that he hated his brother. He still does."

"But to kill ones own family, as well as take the lives of countless others, because of the hate he had for one person...! It's sickening!" Alex slammed his fist into the ground. It cracked under the pressure. He knelt for a moment, holding a hand to his face.

Gemma sat, watching as it sank in. So, Kayaba. This is the game you've been playing all along...? She rose from her seat. She made her way over to the older man. "Armstrong, you need to return to central and tell Mustang about this."

He turned to her. "But if someone else sees the notes we've written..."

Gemma held up the handwritten note she had created. "They're in code. I made sure it was something only we would understand, so you shouldn't worry."

Alex took them from her, looked them over and put them in his jacket with a sigh. "So what will you do now? The case is a bust."

Gemma looked at the time. It had already been several hours. "I'll be staying here for another two or three days."

Armstrong was back on his feet, facing the edge of the platform. "Whatever for? Surely you can't be thinking about trying to capture Kirito?"

"Of course not. I just have some questions that need answering."

Armstrong nodded. Moments later, the train to Central emerged and it's doors opened. The man stepped onto the train, flashing his watch for a ticket. When he sat down in first class, he put the window up. "You're sure about this? I noticed your injuries, Gemma. I'm sure he wont be to keen on seeing you again, if you did as you say you did."

Gemma smiled. "I'll make sure I hear what I want to hear this time. No exceptions, no fighting. I only want to talk with him."

As the train began to pull away, Armstrong waved at the girl. She waved back, standing until the train was out of sight. Then she turned, heading for the old mans home.

Gemma was back at the old man's house. She knocked on the door, and entered.

"Oh if it inst the girl from before... What was your name again, darling?"

"Gemma. Gemma Einsam."

"Oh that's right. Gemma..."

The man was drinking a cup of coffe, as he sat near the window, watching as the clouds peacefully moved, the sun's beams of light, cracking amidst it, making it seem like a picture.

Gemma however had no time to waste.

"Sir... I have a question to ask."

"What is it?" the old man turned smiling at her.

"The boy that lived here whit you... Did he came back?"

The old man turned back at staring at the window. "He didn't came back..."

Gemma waited for a few more seconds, waiting to see if he had any other information. And as so the man started talking. But not about what she expected to hear.

"I remember the first day he came here. He was all thisrty and hungry. I remember how desperate he was. A fugitive needs to be really desperate to seek shelter in a house, where a man could easily turn him in." Gemma couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"You... You knew all along..."

"Yes. I always knew that boy was Kirito Hanashi, the fugitive, charged whit countless murders, including his own family and the Elric's. I always knew it was him. Only a misinformed person would not had read that journal back then."

"Then why did you gave him shelter?"

"Because he is innocent."

"You truly believe that?"

"As much as you do yes. Back then, I just tough of letting him in for the night, and then I would turn him in to the authorities. However, he catched me talking on the phone. I was terrified I was going to get killed by him. However all he did was smile as he told me: 'don't worry. You're just doing your duty as a fateful citizen. I'll be off in a few minutes. Have a nice day, and thanks for letting me in. I'm really grateful for it.'. Yes. That were his words. I couldn't help but then, think: how can someone like this, be a criminal? I didn't knew what to think. And so, I asked him to stay one more day. He was surprised actually, as I hung up the phone and told him he could stay. After a few days, I asked him, about his story. I didn't wanted to live by the stories the goverment gave me. The government can simply manufacture any information, to control the masses, in the way they want. I wanted to hear it from himself, his version of the story. What did happened. He told me, that his brother, Kayaba Hanashi, the personal bodyguard of the Fuher himself, was the one who did it. He told me everything about it, everything about his life, since he was a child, up to the day he was framed, and the year he spent on the run before he found me. All seemed so real... He didn't showed me any traces of lying. In fact, he smiled as he remembered the good things of his past, lie how his younguer sister would run to his embrace everytime he came home. How he loved hearing she sayin ' I love you, big brother!'. But also he cried everytime he remembered the countless discussions and fights he had whit his twin. There's no such thing as a liar that can fake emotions. Unlike information, emotions can't be produced. They come from whithin."

Gemma was surprised at what she was hearing. She didn't expected that. Not at all.

"In that day, I knew he was innocent. And I told him that he could live whit me, as long as he wanted to. He was really happy, to hear that, but also very worried. After all, the state would kill me if they found I was helping a criminal to hide. But I told him that there wasn't any problem, and that he shouldn't listen to his toughs. I knew that one day an alchemist would come for him. I just never expected to be you... the Chaos Alchemist."

"How do you know my alchemy name?"

The man smiled. "I used to be an alchemist back in the day. Yes. I was in fact still in duty when you were still a little girl training, to become the strong woman you are today. I saw you countless times, and once we even talked. But, I'm not surprised you'd remember. It's been to long... Yes. To long indeed..."

Gemma had an expression of surprise on her face. However she quickly surpressed it, and became serious again.

"I can tell you that you also noticed what's wrong on that photo, so I don't need to tell or show you anything. You know the one in the photo is Kayaba Hanashi. You want to listen to Kirito, and to what he has to say. You want to know his past, and think about what you should do next."

Gemma replied whit a simple "Yes."

"The boy won't be coming anymore. He sent me a letter. He told me he was found and that it was dangerous if he stayed here. Yes. Very considerate of him." The man turned to Gemma, took a letter out of his pocket, and gave it to Gemma. "He tells me to meet him somewhere. You know where it is. It is close to the location, I presume you two fought. He asked me to go there, so he could properly thank me, and say his farewells. I believe you should go instead of me."

"Why?"

"I'm too old to walk so many miles. I don't think he tough about this when writing this letter. Heh. He is so naive. He needs the help of someone to overcome his obstacles and to clean his name. I'm not fit to help him. You, on the other hand, is the best option he has now. You need to train him on the use of the alchemy he has in his swords. In terms of sowrdsmanship, he is the best Amestris eever had. But he lacks the skill to use the alchemy of his baldes. That's probably why he lost to you so easily, otherwise, he would had put a lot more fight. He needs your help."

Gemma got up after reading the letter and the location.

"I'll be going now."

The old man smiled. "Tell him it was fun while it lasted."

Gemma couldn't help but smile back. "I will."

It was already night. Gemma was walking for hours. She then, in the middle of the trees, saw Kirito Hanashi, on his black clothes, his coat, wavign as the wind passed. She walked closer to him. She stepped onto a dry stick, a crack, being heard. Kirito immediatley, turned, readying his swords. He was not surprised at seeing Gemma. He somehow knew she would come.

"Sheet your swords. I'm here to talk."

"Why should I believe in you?" asked Kirito.

"Because I'm telling the truth." Gemma replied.

Kirirto remained motionless for a moment, before sheeting his swords. Gemma walked closer to him. Kirito turned his back to her, as if trying to avoid her.

"I need to know what happened."

Kirito remained still. "Why should I tell you anything?"

"I have proof of your innocency."

Kirito remained motionless, standing in the same position, his arms crossed. Gemma kept still, waiting for him to say something. But he did not.

"I have proof that Kayaba, may be the criminal. I have proof that he framed you. I just don't know why. I need to know why."

"You're a state alchemist right?" he asked. Gemma nodded. "You all follow the laws of your country, up to the word. You shouldn't be blaming the Fuher. That's crime. One of the most brutal crimes."

"Not if he's a killer. And a maniac."

Kirito turned his head, his eeys meeting hers. "You truly want to know then?"

"Yes." she replied.

Kirito turned his head once more, this time looking up to the moon. "I never understood quite right why my brother hated on Asuka. Why he sometimes would even beat her. He was mean whit her. I couldn1t let that go. I became his enemy after that day. I never intended for it to happen. I just wanted to talk some sense itno him. Whit time, my father deserted him fro the family, one of the motives he moved to learn alchemy. I became our parent's favorite ovet the twins. I don't know why, but in his mind, he was the worthy of it. Even tough, none of us were worthy of having more attention from our parents. We were the same. He enevr acknowledged that I was more loved than him. But that was all his fault. He was the one who dirtied himself. Instead of learning from his mistakes, he decided that it would be better, to destroy me. My reputation. To turn our family against me, especially Asuka. And so he did. He killed al of those innocents and blamed me. Then he killed all of the Elric's. He wanted only to talk to mom and dad, but they did not listen. They were ashamed of what their child had become. And so he killed them. Cold-blooded. Making Asuka thinking it was me, he took her into his wings, and took her from me. He became her new hero, her new big-brother. He now had the love I once felt on his hands. But that wasn't enough. When the Fuher died, he tok it's place, and demanded a man-hunt. Now, every single citizen of Amestirs, is ready to kill me if they see me in the streets. I have no place here anymore. I could just leave and call it the end. But I'm not allowed to do that."

"Why not?" asdked Gemma.

"I have to show everyone that I'm innocent. Or even if I'm not capable of, I have to rescue Asuka from Kayaba. It's the least I can do. And if I have to kill Kayaba in order to do so, so be it."

"You know that killing the Fuher, is the worst crime to commit right?"

"I'm already sentenced to death, the worst penalty that can exist. Killing the Fuher, would make it no different."

Kirito turned to see her. Gemma remained still.

"That's all. I'm innocent. All charges that they droped on my back, are not my own. I'm not guilty."

"Why should I believe in you?" asked Gemma.

Kirito let a smile surface on his face. However not one of sarcasm, or superiority. It was an innocent smile. Simple as that. "Because I'm telling the truth."
