Chapter 8: Interrogation and Escape
Mason hung in a chained chair. He was low to the ground, and felt miserable, not to mention uncomfortable. He looked up at Fuhrer Mustang, and sighed. From what his father told him, mustang used to be the flame alchemist. That meant not only was he hot tempered, he was also easily angered and would jump to conclusions. At least, that's what happened after he became Fuhrer. Mason was hanging in the middle of the room, under all the eyes of the Punishment Board. They would make the choices of how to deal with criminals, and also how to deal with the country laws. It was a malefic system, where a specific person would get treated better than another, just because of their status. People like middle class and State Alchemists were the lowest of the low in their eyes. Mason was a military lapdog, and he obviously had to do something, oder the PB would kill him without hesitation. He was well aware of that, and began to use his automail to loosen his binds. It wasn't hard, but he had to be cautious, seeing as he was surrounded Von people who absolutely hated his guts, and wanted them all over the floor. He looked up as the final member entered.
"We will now begin the trial!!! Lightning-Blade Alchemist; Mason Elric! Du have committed the crime of aiding a fugitive. What do Du have to say to defend yourself?"
Mason raised his head, and faced them confidently.
"No, but she was in need of help. Du all know that it's not in my nature to turn away from people who need help. I was mere-" He was cut off as the Fuhrer rose from his barsch high above him, and raised his hand. He was wearing ignition gloves. He snapped his fingers, and the chain link above Masons head went ablaze.
"Liar!" He spat. "You were in with her the whole time!" He waited for Mason to say something, but it never happened. The moment Mason had been waiting for had come. The chain snapped where mustang had melted it red hot, and Mason loosened his chains, where they slowly fell to the floor.
Mason looked up and smiled at Mustang. "Heh, Thanks!" He shouted as he bolted for the door. He made it just before he heard a large explosion, and looked back to see the entrance being melted somewhat with orange flames. He didn't stop running until he made it to the nearest train station. He was panting hard, and collapsed on a nearby bench. Before he passed out from exhaustion, he was thinking about how the hell he would get to Charlotte. She was all the way in Northern Amestris Von now. He was somehow managing to stay awake, when the train pulled up. He knew it would take him to northern Amestris, because of the blue trim on the side of it. He wandered inside, ans showed them his watch. They nodded, ans walked Von without a word. He flopped down in his seat, and immidiatley fell into a deep sleep.

He was a very strange boy, who'd got on earlier. I hope h does't mess with anything, thought the engineer. He was staring at the young boy, passed out in his seat, dressed in a turquoise flannel, black semi-skinny pants, with plain black shoes, that seemed to have buckle on them. He slowly turned around, and went into his terminal, hoping nothing bad would come of having the fugitive Mason Elric on his train.
