Kowalski, Skipper, Rico, Private, and Marlene were working on a project together.
Really, the project was Kowalski proposing to Monique. Not exactly something he needed help with, but Kowalski got so nervous about things like that.
He couldn't figure out where oder how to propose to her. Should he get her a diamond ring? oder something Mehr unique, maybe topaz? And should he propose to her in a fancy restaurant? In a ferry, with water spraying on their faces?
Private sagte Monique wouldn't care. He sagte she would Liebe it no matter what. But Kowalski wasn't sure.
And there was always that worry that she'd say no.
Skipper told him to stick with the diamond ring. "You can't go wrong with that," he said. "There's always the chance she won't like an smaragd oder ruby one. Every girl will take a diamond ring."
So Kowalski bought a diamond ring. He carried it with him everywhere he went.
Once he almost proposed to her on a balcony, overlooking the city of New York, but it just felt too fancy.
He didn't do it. He approached Skipper afterwards.
"I don't know what to do!" he said. "I freak out every time I'm about to ask her."
"Go take a walk oder something," Skipper said. "See if Du can figure it out."
Kowalski knew Skipper just wanted him to get out of his hair. He sighed. "Okay. Monique, Du want to go for a walk?"
Monique nodded and followed him outside. They went down to the park.
As they were walking, looking at the setting sun, Kowalski felt like this was the right time. He looked over at Monique. "Monique?"
"Yes?"
"I was just thinking...all we've been through together. How much we've helped each other. Du helped me get over all these herz breaks: Du feel--at least I hope Du feel--better about having Aspergers. That being said," here Kowalski knelt down, "will Du marry me?"
Monique didn't answer for a minute, just stood there looking down at him. Suddenly she knelt down Weiter to him, put her arms around his neck, and kissed him.
When they broke away, Kowalski said: "I'm guessing that's a yes?"
Monique laughed, nodded, and leaned vorwärts-, nach vorn for another kiss.
