Author's note: My turn to write a chapter, this time! ^^ What you're about to read is an Easel production. :P
'Ok, turns out it wasn't a long night, after all.' thought Chloe, when she woke up the Weiter morning. She was curious about why Mist-Wu was so sensitive about her name being shortened, but she never let mysteries keep her awake at night. She enjoyed sleeping.
To her relief, Mist-Wu's anger seemed to have evaporated, overnight. Neither of them mentioned the disagreement they'd had the Tag before. Mist-Wu's paw had healed, slightly, so she hunted along with Chloe.
During their hunting, they came across a very thin cat, who was trying to catch a pigeon, but failing miserably; a fat black and white cat, who nearly got ran over and would have been if Mist-Wu and Chloe hadn't shouted "LOOK OUT!!" at the same time; a kitten with a shiny grey mantel sitting on a windowsill and looking down at Mist-Wu and Chloe as though they were dirt and many Mehr cats. Chloe was shocked at how many Katzen there were, but Mist-Wu wasn't; the straße in China she had lived on was full of cats, too.
They spent nearly all Tag hunting, but when night fell, they were both still rather hungry. They walked (or in Mist-Wu's case, limped, as her paw still hadn't fully healed, yet) back to the box they had been in the Zurück night, but when they got there, they found that the box was already occupied. The fat black and white cat who's life they had saved, earlier, was already lying in it, looking extremely comfortable, with his eyes half closed and purring quietly to himself.
"Ah, yes." he said, when they approached. "This box smells of you. I suppose Du slept in it last night? Yes, I thought so. Well, I've decided to sleep in it tonight, so BEAT IT!!"
"But we helped Du earlier!" protested Mist-Wu.
"That doesn't change anything."
"Well, it should! We won't bother helping Du Weiter time, will we, Chloe?"
"Certainly not. May I suggest, however, letting us sleep in this box?"
"No."
"Are Du sure? We are prepared to fight you, Du know."
"I'll win. In case Du haven't noticed, I'm mush bigger than you."
"Ahh, yes, but, Du see, my friend Mist-Wu, here, is an elite fighter.
"Huh?" sagte Mist-Wu. Chloe gave her a tiny wink.
"Prove it." sagte the fat black and white cat.
"Well, Du see this mark, right here?" asked Chloe, nodding towards an unusual birthmark on Mist-Wu's side that looked like Chinese writing. "It is the mark of the elite martial arts guild for cats. It's what Katzen are branded with, when they complete their training, there. Mist-Wu had this mark burned into her skin. I think she can take a few of your scratches."
Luckily for them, this particular cat was very gullible.
"Well... all right, then." he said, reluctantly. "I've got a Mehr comfortable place to sleep, anyway." and he walked away, giving an anxious glance behind him as he turned a corner.
"Time to go to bed, I think." yawned Chloe. "Nighty-night."
" 'Night!" sagte Mist-Wu. "And, uh... thanks."
Chloe smiled widely. "You're welcome." she said. They stepped into the box together and Chloe fell asleep.
Mist-Wu, however, didn't. She had just witnessed Chloe lying very convincingly. That meant she was capable of being very sly. Mist-Wu trusted her less. Might she not be as friendly as she seemed? Come to think of it, Mist-Wu had gotten the feeling Chloe was hiding something, when they had first met, at the airport.
On the other hand, trustworthy oder not, Chloe was a very useful ally to have. Mist-Wu decided to stay with her... at least for now...
