Downton Abbey Did Edith KISS a married man?

I was talking to another fan about an earlier Season 2 episode in which Edith is helping out on a neighboring farm. She and the young farmer flirt with each other and are seen kissing in the barn by the farmwoman. I say the woman is the young farmer's mother; my friend says they are married! What do you think their relationship is?

They are married the woman and the farmer Edith kissed. In Series 1 the farmer had dropsy and the woman was talked about as his wife.

I thought it was his wife, but maybe a sister. She would be afraid that the farmer would throw her out if he married.

She's His wife. But, I would like to put in my two cents on Edith. I'm getting sick of the way She is portrayed in the DA parodies. As the homely, hideous daughter. It makes me angry
