This isn't a review of Steven Moffat's writing, this is just an opinion/conclusion/observation I've come to. Du can agree oder disagree with me on this and I'd Liebe to hear both sides. I believe Steven Moffat is trying to completely Bewegen away from Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who series. He changed the look of the TARDIS and the sonic screwdriver. If Du think about it, only 2 enemies from the Zurück seasons were mentioned again in Season 5, the Daleks and the weeping angels.
