ummmm ok so 18 min in her movie and in a lot of it she is either sleeping, dancing or staring at phillip. i don't feel like we know her and i feel like she has not much of a personality.

I like Rapunzel more than I thought I would, but I don't understand how some people can rank her higher as a DP over some of the more classic DPs. IDK. I guess it all falls down to personal preference.

She's bland and boring. To me she's more of a symbol rather than a character. She only thing she does is be the one responsible for the enchantment being broke, but that's it. She doesn't add anything else to the story. Her friends are more useful than she is. I mean they could've had her do more to the story. I don't see what the big deal about her is. It's like her only means for existance is just to be Beast's love interest and break the curse. Other than that she's completely useless to the movie.

Yes I guess you're right. I never did understand the movie or got what was all that about it. I love the meaning behind it of true love is the strongest thing ever and that you shouldn't judge on appearence. However I just never really got it. I watched it yesterday and I find Belle boring and think she has nothing much going for her except her looks. I really couldn't get into the story. But than again I pity you for the way you see Ariel but hey whatever.

i got what significance belle has, but i still think she is absolutely boring and the only things she does, is breaking rules and holding a book, besides of course having a dress many adore. i think its funny that many people also just like her, because she wants adventure out there and out of the town "her prison", when many of the Dp´s want that. i also think that her looks are totally overrated, but that is because i like outstanding characterdesigns, something that makes a character special, you know? for me, belle looks like a plastic doll, which you could put in as a background character in almost every movie. i know that they had to make her absolutely beautiful and perfect in appereance and that´s fine, its just my personal taste^^
i guess, if they had a bit more time for the movie, or would have chosed one of the earlier versions of the story they planned, i would like her more.. because they would have added more to her personality, etc..

to make it short - for me, belle is an average girl, like so many others, one thing because so many can relate to her i guess. but that is exactly my problem with her. she is a - lost in the masses - type of person, someone who doesnt stand out much. i know she does in the little village they live in! but everywhere else, where people would not be so stupid and had an overall average intelligence, she simply wouldnt.

i didnt typed this to make anyone angry or so, i just wanted to explain why I dont like belle, if you love her, im fine with that, everyone can like what they want and have an own opinion on things like this. so i guess there also wouldnt be a point to argue about it XD i mean, do you really think, that you can turn someone who dislikes a character, into a hardcorefan like yourself, with just a few words? Safira-09 I completely agree with everything, except I like her and find her gorgeous. I think her mega flaw in her looks is her hair, except when it's loose. Anyway glad to know there's someone else who's not a big fan of her.

I seriously don't get the big deal with this character?!?! Never have & never will. To me she's a lot more overrated then the others but obviously she won't get many votes since the majority on here love her. Also Rapunzel, but she's new so maybe the hype will die down soon (though I've been saying this for the past year lol)

No I watched her movie yesterday and kept thinking besides breaking the spell she was useless. It's just hard for me to explain, I'm just not too good with explaining certain things. Plus not sure if you noticed but people pick the littlest thing about any character just to hate them. Belle's not horrible she's just not that interesting or active. To me she's just more of a symbol, just like Aurora. For me the only thing that stands out for her is that she's beautiful.

She's cute and bubbly and naive....just like Ariel and Snow White... She loves the arts, wants to see the world, and loves to read....just like Belle. She stood up for herself...like Jasmine. She's a dreamer...but not as big of a dreamer as the others. I love Punz and all, but she's defo overrated imo

A little. I love the character, but I think she needs some work. A bit more of an arc, for example -- she seems more like a plot device in the Beast's own story. Which may or may not be the point, but still... #Probably not making sense. Sorry.

No doubt about it. Mandy moore isn't a very impressive vocalist, and Rapunzel herself isn't terribly impressive. I like her but she just can't compete with most of the classics. Plus many Fanpop members are making her seem even more overrated.

Ok, guys, here's the deal: I love Belle. I love Beauty and the Beast. I honestly love all the Disney Princesses except maybe Snow White but I don't think she is overrated. Belle, on the other hand, IS overrated in my opinion. She has a great personality and I disagree with people who say she is useless, I think she proved to have a brave, loyal and caring heart, but that can be said about many other princesses as well and when people put her above them all saying that she was more intellegent and special, I kind of cannot get on board with this opinion. I think when it comes to intellegence she was pretty average, even though I suppose according to standards of the time she lived in, she was considered the number one smart ass in village. She doesn't exactly read "smart" books though. She reads her equivalent of Twilight, books about love, romance and happy endings. She doesn't exactly grow or develop as a person throughout the movie either, but however, I like her story and the way she was, I think she is gorgeous and she sees the good in every person or at least tries her best to do so. It is a good quality, but again, this is something some other princesses have too, so I don't get why she gets more credit than them.

I don't really think any are overrated, but Cinderella does get more attention that others a lot of the time.

I don't get why many peoples love her. She isn't as great as most peoples though her to be. Belle and Rapunzel are sort of overrated but I can see why peoples like them.
