I feel like Jas/Al's scene is romantic, yet a lot of the excitement is in the flight and scenery, while Rap/Eu's scene is just purely romantic, and their attention is solely on each other.

Who doesn't love A Whole New World? Not just the song, but the visuals and the interactions Al & Jas have w/ each other. They sing to each other the whole time and Rapunzel and Flynn only sing to each other near the end of the song when they realize 'oh I think I like this person now'. Al & Jas already liked each other and the scene(s) following A Whole New World are memorable and more romantic than the ones in Tangled. I also feel the atmosphere is more romantic in A Whole New World than in I See the Light

Maybe I'm biased, but I love Aladdin more than Tangled too. Not to mention Aladdin & Jasmine are my favorite DP couple ever.

I think that my pick really came from my heart, because I voted against Tangled and it's my 2nd fave Disney Movie (not only DP), while Aladdin ranks #7. I feel that 90% of Aladdin's magic is inside the 3 minutes of "A Whole New World", while Tangled has another excellent moments that make "I See the Light" not stand out as it could. And I also think Aladdin's song is better composed and written.
It's funny that I actually want Tangled to win. It's so rare to see this movie win a contest... I'll be happy if it manages to LOL

Animaluco probably thinks Alan Menken wrote his songs better in the 90's than he does now.

From the visuals, both scenes are on the same level. It would be impossible to decide based on that alone.
While "A whole new world" might be the better song, "I see the light" is definitly the more romantic one. Does nobody pay attention to the text anymore? I really don't want to explain it again, but here is a lengthly reason why I consider "I see the light" as more fitting for a romantic scene than "A whole new world". link
And the third aspect is the context - and there "Tangled" beats "Aladdin" easily. The scene in "Aladdin" is basically a spontaneous joyride, which Aladdin does to impress Jasmine - "see, I have this great shiny car, I can bring you to impressive places". In "Tangled" Eugene, knowing that seeing the lights is Rapunzels long live dream, arranges the perfect viewing place for her (quite risky, I might add, considering that he is a wanted criminal). It's not about impressing her, it's about doing something for her. And that's truly romantic for me. (if the question were worded differently I might decide differently, but for most romantic, there is no question for me).

A Whole New World is one of the most romantic scenes in animation! It is just so magical! I See the Light is nice, but their romance appears out of nowhere (Rapunzel never showed any interest in Flynn before he took her hand on the boat).

I think that while "I See the Light" may be more romantic, I prefer watching A Whole New World. Even though I detest both couples.

Rapunzel definitely did show interest in Flynn. "I think he likes me!" For me, I think it's Flynn's love that comes out of nowhere.

It does? I can exactly pinpoint the moment in which Flynn begins to see Rapunzel different - when he tells her his life story, and she says that she likes "Eugene" more - something apparently nobody else ever did. And the way he watches her while she is dancing is just cute.
They certainly have much more of a build-up than Jasmine and Aladdin, who fall in love with each other on the first sight (at least, Aladdin does).

I See The Light is such a sweet and lovely song. I love it so much.

ughhhh!!! both are so amazing. but I See The Light made me cry, this one just made me go "Awww!!! how romantic!"

But I think love at first sight is more convincing than rushed falling in love.

I love both. But I See The Light is more romantic because both Flynn and Rapunzel are looking at each other when they're singing. Also you can see how their factions change and the sparkle in Flynn's eyes gets brighter when he sings

"Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now she's here, suddenly I know
If she's here it's crystal clear
I'm where I'm meant to go"

And he takes her hand. Also their lanterns were together all the time (like dancing). The atmosphere they create is so romantic and full of emotion, I started crying (And I can assure you, it wasn't of sadness).

A Whole New World is more adventurous than romantic. They're more excited than in love, and only the last lines are romantic.

i like the two scenes but I don't find many romance in a whole new world. I see the light has more romance.

Another thing: When they begin the journey, Rapunzel wants to see the laterns and Eugene wants the crown. But the the boat, Rapunzel is surrounded by the laterns and Eugene gets the crown offered - but Eugene doesn't want the crown anymore, and Rapunzel suddenly only pays attention to Eugene, not to the laterns. Tie that in with "You were my new dream" in the end - it's just beautiful to see two people realizing that the other one is the most important thing in their life.
For Aladdin and Jasmine on the other hand, their first desire to explore "A whole new world" stays with them during the whole song. It's like they can only love each other as long as they can share their big dream.

I love them both to pieces, but Im gunna have to pick this one. I personally find I See the Light a lot more romantic, as it is about the couple and them falling in love. A Whole New World is more about seeing the world. Plus, the animation and the whole scene in general is just stunning. I can literally feel the character's emotions. Plus, I See the Light makes me cry, and anything that can draw that much emotion out of me is the clear winner.

Jasmine and Aladdin is not only romantic, but has funny parts as well. It's really complete, while Rapunzel, though nice scene, lacks something

@popcornfan But the question is not which one is the better scene, or which one has more funny parts, the question is which one is more romantic.

They're both beautiful, but I have a soft spot for "A Whole New World". Beautiful animation, wonderful performances from the singers -- as Paw puts it in his review of ALADDIN, the song's enough to give you goosebumps.
