They're the "I want" girls, who want more than what they have, and are the most relatable.

This was the era where princesses become more independent because this was also a new era of young girls and they wanted to create memorable princesses with memorable qualities and traits. These princesses showed it was okay to speak your mind and stand up for yourself and what you want

They are different from the other's.

I love all of these qualities in a character; that' why these gals are my favorite princesses. ;)

Mmm... I don't like "toughness" b/c it's not a feminine trait. But to each his/her own.

I like princesses who are fun!

^and the part about "being fun to be around"... which is totally missing in Belle, while some of the revival girls are just abrasive and mean.

Not all of them, but most of them are dreams more than find a Prince (Ariel and Jasmine are dreaming for both)
Fun and high-spirited: only works with Ariel and Pocahontas
Odd and misunderstood: works with Belle and Mulan
Tough and independent: works with Pocahontas and Mulan

One of my favorite things about Poca. I don't like the tough thing.
