disneyprince picked I'd have preferred the classic:
My major problems with Tangled are that I felt like they went too "Shrek" with it, and making it extremely modern and a little too goofy at times. Also, one of my favorite aspects of the old story is the sympathetic character of the witch, who wants a child and tries to protect it from the world because she has been beaten down by it. I felt like that would have been a really interesting villain since most Disney villains are one-dimensional. Also, in Tangled, there is no reason at all why her name should be Rapunzel, unlike the fairytale (a minor point but it still bugs me).

i don't really like the original fairytale. probably because rapunzel went pregnant a couple of days after meeting the prince. and the fact that her tears healed the prince's blindness in the end. besides, she searched for him for more than 9 months. that's pretty stupid, imo

I don't remember Gothel's story being like that. The cartoons and wikipedia never mentioned that about the witch, that she wanted a child and wanted to shelter her from the world because she was beaten down by it.

Anyway, I do like the changes to it. I love the story of a lost princess and that Rapunzel's hair had healing powers. Though it's true that we don't know where Rapunzel's name comes from in the Disney version, whereas she was named after the plant her dad stole from the witch's garden for her mom to eat while she was pregnant of her.

^Same thing for Cinderella, since she got her name from sleeping in the fireplace, while in the Disney version she sleeps in a bed in the attic. But every interpretation of the story I've seen of Rapunzel, the witch was spurned by the world for being a witch and being ugly, and she longed for a child. I think a complex villain is much more interesting than a vain one (we've had HOW MANY of those?).

Oh yeah, Disney left out the origin of Cinderella's name too. I remember reading about the origin of her name in a Disney's Cinderella coloring book and I liked knowing where it came from.

I would have preferred if it is closer to the original fairy tale.

What I don't like about "Tangled" is the name Tangled really? and in my opinion the leader of this movie is Flynn not Rapunzel,Hello.

the new version makes me laugh and i learnt a lot from Tangled but the old one seems a little bit boring i guess. But the thing is that the directors of Tangled want Flynn to be the main character along with Rapunzel. That's why the name of the movie is Tangled not Rapunzel. the classic one is ok, too.Anyhow i still prefer the new one it was so AMAZING

i really like the original version but the original story would be too short and dark for the little kids so i like Disney's version a litle better

^ TigerRanma, the origin of Cinderella's name is true. Cinderella's name is just 'Ella' in the classical fairytale, it's just the step-mother and step-sisters added 'cinder' to her name as an insult/pay-out name.

It makes me wonder if we should call Disney's Cinderella as 'Ella' because Cinderella is really an insult name.

^Yeah, that's the fairytale though, I'm pretty sure the narrator at the beginning of the Disney movie calls Cinderella by that name, meaning her father and mother named her that (God knows why).

Yeah, I know. That's what I read, that Cinderella's real name is Ella, which I think is pretty, and her step-family adding "Cinder" to her name is an insult. And I just liked that whole idea in general. I don't know why.

I really like the changes in the movie. Its deferent then the orginal fairy tale.Yeah the original was good but I think Disney version is way better and more intresting then the classic, and it's completely new and differnt then what the classic has been told so many times. We need something new and it turned out amzing! Plus I love the idea that for the first time a major charcter ( prince) actually told and narrated the story! I really loved that it was different as we always got story book openings (Snow White,Cinderella,Sleeping Beauty and even Beauty and the Beast). And it was always regular narrator who told the story.I just really loved that this time the prince and much less a major charcter told the story instead of someone else, which made it more exciting! I also loved the prince was not really prince until they got married. And also that Rapunzel in this version was differnt then any other Rapunzels before her,as this Rapunzel had magic hair and once her hair was cut it changed color instead of it staying the same color even after it's cut which all Rapunzel stories stayed like that but not Disneys! I also like the fact that the prince (Eugene) cut Rapunzels hair instead the old classic way where the witch cuts the hair of Rapunzel,it's nice switch! Anyways I love everything about this movie!
