what i mean is that people often say about mulan that she is a tomboy , the opposite of a classic princess , a strong and confident soldier against traditionnal laws . but i dont think she is really a tomboy she is not that much against traditions , she wanted to make her parents pround when she went to the matchmaker. she seems to be gentle sweet not really confident and shy and her personality is not that much opposite to the classic also i think mulan's message is more about the love beetween a daughter and her father that how we heard a lot " she doesnt need a man to save her"

Judging by your explanation of this poll, I'd say yes. Maybe not as much on this site, though.
She is in general a laid back, but insecure and quiet person. It's clear she's gained confidence by the end of the movie, but even then, she is humble and does what she thinks is right without avidly trying to prove anyone (but herself) wrong.

Contrary to the results of the prior poll, I don't see her as having Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella low, and having Ariel be her least favorite at all.

I think she shares some similarities with all of the Classics ( some of Aurora's shyness, some of Cindy's patience and desperation, some of Snow White's positivity, and some of Ariel's determination ( just like Ariel, Mulan has something she wants to prove to everyone else), so the results of that eariler poll pretty much bugs me.

I feel really bad for her, she's actually a very modest, easygoing person who shows no hostility towards more feminine women whatsoever (look at her mom or the other girls at the matchmaker's, she doesn't act disgusted or annoyed ever) yet that's exactly how much of her fandom sees her.

I don't think she's really a tomboy either. More gender neutral if anything. She uses the fan to fight Shan Yu, she prefers wearing a dress over pants at the end, she doesn't mind getting dolled up and she had no idea how to relate to any of the male soldiers at first.

And the people insisting she would hate the girly ones are weird, usually Aurora. I know I'll sound biased but I genuinely don't see it. They probably wouldn't be close but Aurora dealt with a political (or sorts) marriage too and crushed on a strong, courageous guy who can fight. They're calm and thoughtful. Why would they loathe each other other than half the Disney fandom just likes pitting them against each other?

AGREE 100%

It annoys me when people talk about her like she was Superman or something.

What the others said. People keep stereotyping her as a tomboy when she's not really the one.

Mostly DP haters outside of this site do. It seems like they consider her feisty to the point of violent, outspoken to the point of rude, cocky, loving masculine sports, hating everything associated with feminity and a type of person whose favorite arguments are middle finger gesture and fists.
However, while Mulan is definetely more active than classic DPs, she is more soft-spoken and modest than some of Disney female leads from earlier movies( Jasmine, Esmeralda and most notably Megara). She is also a tolerant and easygoing person who befriended two guys that bullied her. Wavesurf is right about her similiatries with early DPs. And she didn't join training for fun so we can't say that masculine kind of sports are her favorite activities( and it was actually difficult for her to adapt the army, she succeeded at it not because army is the such a perfectly comfortable place for such a tomboy but because she is an adaptable person and worked hard). The only thing( or one of few) she does in the movie just for fun is joining chess game during Honour to Us All which has nothing to do with athletism and proves that we can't say that she prefers sport over intellectual activities( some people seem to be under impression that she does and call her a jock what annoys me to hell).
Another my big problem is Mulan Modern Au fanart and the clothing style that artists usually give her. Many of them don't give attributes of feminity. On many of such fanarts Mulan either has very fierce and masculine style or is unkempt and plainly dressed. Of course, Mulan's casual look shouldn't be very polished, impractical and proper( such as five feet heels, very sleek hairstyle, massive jewelry etc) but attributes of masculinity and messiness aren't only alternatives. I think that Mulan's clothing style( at least casual one) should be comfortable, moderately relaxed but at the same time cute and moderately girly. The best Modern Au fanart I've seen so far is Willemijn1991's where she wears green and has two ponytails. I also can imagine Mulan wearing something fancy, princessy and not very comfortable for special events. And I know that if you give Mulan a moderately relaxed but also moderately neat and girly casual look or polished special event look, the big part of audience will say it's OOC.
And Mulan hating classics DPs for a petty reason like being girlier than her? She forgave and befriended two guys that used to abuse her. So I don't buy it. She may not be close with them but she wouldn't be negative towards them.

I do agree that there's a lot of projection about her, mostly from people trying to prove what a hardass she is.
But ironically, I see it going on here too - Mulan didn't befriend her bullies, iirc Ling is the one who befriended her. I don't think she's especially kind or anything.

^^ Yes, Ling initiated the reconciliation but Mulan chose to accept his suggestion. I wouldn't.
And she considers Yao and Ling likeable and her friends and looks past their many flaws. Those two are not very benevolent and sweet guys( and they never really became ones) but it doesn't bother her.
