Mehr than one of the above

The backgrounds are beautiful

Poca & John aren't a bad pair, but their romance isn't fleshed out
Kocoum seemed like a pretty OK guy
Poca's patience, non-rebelliousness, but desire to do what's right are refreshing
John getting shot at the end is contrived
None of the above

Nakoma is a pleasant character

Gov. Ratcliffe's goal feels unrelated to the moral
The animal scenes aren't very entertaining

• Gov. Ratcliffe's goal feels unrelated to the moral: The natives and the settlers both start to see that violence isn't the answer, and even if it isn't really shown, I think the moral is to respect each other's differences. Ratcliffe, though, just wants gold. This goal doesn't fit the moral. One could argue that he just doesn't learn this lesson while everybody else does, but why stress him desiring gold so much? Why isn't his goal simply to colonize the land?
• Poca's patience...: Pocahontas' desire to do what's right is cool, but what's particularly refreshing is that she's patient and she's not rebellious like Ariel or Jasmine, for example. She does unconventional things (ex: secretly meeting John Smith), but with the best intent.
Also Nakoma, she gets too much unwarranted hate. She was just trying to be a good friend.
