That depends on the situation you're in!

It's not necessarily a bad thing. In Cinderella's case she really didn't have a choice. It wasn't good or bad, but she just followed because she had to.

For other cases, by following rules, following your parents 99.9% of the time we'll work out for the better. By following the rules and being a pushover? I know what it's like, it's not good a good thing.

Well...it really depends on the situation, like I would say definitely always listen to your parents (even that can be difficult sometimes) you should follow the laws and everything like that. But if someone is out right telling you to do something wrong then no! Like if they say to go into a corner store and snag a candy bar you obviously wouldn't do it. So yeah like I said it depends.

^No, that just means doing what you feel like, regardless of what is morally right. I hate when Disney pushes that theme, cuz it's all about being selfish. "Parents want you to do well in school? Follow your heart, even if it says to party all the time and hang out with the bad crowd!" or "If your heart TELLS you you need to steal that guy away from your best friend because she'll never appreciate him the way you do, you go and do it!" for example.

I should think not blindly following bad rules (like hazing to get into a sorority or whatever) goes well without saying, so yes, doing what you're told with your parents, the law, and things that actually matter is very important. I wish Disney would try to promote that instead of constantly making heroines and heroes that are rebellious and do whatever they want. We have no right to complain about how 'bad' this generation is when we praise characters who act just like them.

I've always had a casual disdain for rules but a strong sense of duty and personal responsibility. :)

First, I wasn't saying follow your heart all the time, I said sometimes! The examples you gave are times to listen to your parents//head. But times like wanting to write a book even though everyone is telling you not to just because. That's a time to follow your heart and do what you have to do to get your dream (within reason, of course. Don't go murder anyone just to get a book published).

You can't just blindly follow EVERYTHING, do what you think is right a listen to the people that usually know what they're talking about. That's why I like Aurora and despise Ariel.
