As somebody who has a very strong preference of introversion over extroversion, I never saw Belle as an introvert. I thought that perhaps I merely didn't understand people who had a slight preference of introversion over extroversion. So I thought about it, and the more I thought, the more I came to realize that she cannot be introverted for too many obvious reasons. Many people say that Belle has the ability to make friends in her "little town", but she chooses not to, preferring to read and dream instead. But, if watch Belle (the song, that is), you can clearly see her making a great deal of effort to share her world with the others. Belle is asked where she is off to, and she not only answers the question, but she goes on to tell the man why she was headed there and what the story is about (something similar happens again between her and the book shop owner). When she's interrupted, you can see clearly that it's the townspeople who choose to outcast Belle, being too caught up in their provincial lives, and not Belle who is outcasting herself. Later, she tells her father that there is no one in their town for her to talk to, which tells us that she really does want company. Sure, there is Gaston, but she doesn't like him, and extroverts don't spend time with people they don't like as well as introverts. When she starts staying in the castle, she quickly befriends everyone but the beast, and when she does befriend him, she is seen spending almost all of her time around people, seeming happier and more content than in her town. Belle also resolves conflicts like an extrovert, often standing up for herself immediately and clearly expressing her own side of the story, instead of isolating herself in order to "heal". There was the scene where she was crying on the bed, all alone, but she didn't feel much better until after Be Our Guest, when she was cheered up by other people. I'm not at all bothered by the amount of people who see Belle as an introvert, but I personally believe that what led them to see her as such was how confident she remained even though she was an outcast and had no friends, and that she seemed quite comfortable being alone. Well, and the fact that she's a bookworm, but extroverts can be bookworms too.

She certainly isn't shy, because she immediately speaks her mind or confronts rude people. But she obviously is introverted and in general seems to prefer reading than talking. At least, that's what I think.

She speaks up for herself, and defends herself and the Beast. But she is not obnoxious and extroverted like the other townspeople. She keeps to herself and her books, and mostly likes to daydream until she gets to the castle than her curiosity takes over. Until her and the Beast fall in love, then you see her become shy and its hard for her to express her feelings, which is common with introverts.

I don't know what those words mean

She's not smart but she's not extrovert either.

She is an extrovert, definitely. She can socialize with people as long as they have some interests in common.

I don't think you can understand that an introvert can speak up for themselves and not be shy-- being an introverted doesn't necessarily mean you're shy. Someone who is introverted just shines more in individual tasks and activities and takes a backseat in social activities. Belle clearly enjoys doing stuff more by herself, and has a more reserved personality. I'd definitely say Belle is an introvert with extroverted tendencies. You can be a shy extrovert and an outgoing introvert (such as myself)

I never said that introverts are always shy - and there are extroverts who find it hard to express themselves too, even though this is not very common. Belle easily expresses herself, like when she talks to Gaston and the Beast and expresses her dislike or annoyance for them. She just became a little confused when she was falling for him because of how mean he was to her in the beginning. If Belle was an introvert, she wouldn't have felt upset about the fact that there was nobody in her town to talk to besides her father.

I immediately thought introvert when the question was asked but since there is this option to pick... her yearning for adventure is not very clear so it makes me think of her as ambiverted.
