I don't think Triton is a bad father, but he did drop the ball by 1.letting his daughter do whatever she wanted and then seemed shocked when she would not listen to him, 2.letting her get her way in the end even though she made a big mess of things, 3.Not disciplining her and keeping her in line or at least hiring a woman to be a "mother" figure to his girls (the one from the prequel just shows he does not do background checks or pay attention very well)...He is all talk and big angry words but no follow through....Once again a father that has to be mom and dad and not doing the mom part very well....you can't just be the sweet, understanding,loving parent...you also have to be the disciplinarian and enforce the rules and teach boundaries....

Rrrrrr. Why have people's dislike of the others surpassed the fact that Fergus needs to go?!

He undermines Elinor's attempts to discipline the children. He lets them run around like hellions.

If Eric is included in this it means sequels count, which shows how bad King Triton really was as a dad. After Athena died he became so cold and distant, it's really sad, honestly.

It's beyond me how is he still here, when fathers like Maurice and Powhatan are gone.

wow he's still here. he just doesnt behave like a parent. he is more like one of the kids.

Fergus represents the stereotypical father, especially in his time period....The Mans role consisted of being the protector and provider (which he succeeded in) plus he also loves his family and is playful with his kids....Triton,Maurice,Powhatan would have been considered better Fathers by me except they were single Fathers and it was thier responsibility of either taking the mom role too or getting a mother for thier daughters whereas Fergus only has to be the father since Elinor is there to be the Mom....As a Mom you do the household stuff and take care of the children and keep the home running and the Dad provides the money and the protection and security and also plays with the children....They were lacking in the parent department in that thier children were little hellions and they let Merida be wild and then BAM expected her to listen when they wanted her too (Elinor should have put her foot down a bit more and Fergus should have payed attention and backed her up a bit more as well)

My Daily routine as a Mom: I get up early and make coffee and feed the dog and cat and then I do my school work on the internet. I feed the children when they wake up and prepare thier toothbrushes and clothes (when it is school time I drive them to school...well the two oldest)..I wash dishes, do laundry,clean the house, do homework throughout the day, feed the children and during school time I take the baby to daycare and go to work, fix supper, bath children and prepare them for bed, oh and try to do work with them if I have time....I also run errands like pay bills, grocery shop,take kids to appointments or fun activities...I am also the one that doctors sick children, deals with arguments, and gets up and looks in on them at night...I am the one they come to if they need something...I also keep up with events and plan stuff and mark everything on the calender...I am not an awesome mom but I do the best I can, I do not play with them like I should and I am a bit harsh at times and get very frustrated and I will admit I get distracted and play on the internet (like now) when I should be busy...

My Husband (DAD): Gets up and drinks the coffee I make him (I am not a good wife and do not make him breakfast or lunch so he does not eat unless he goes out...I need to work on that) and goes to work...comes home and when I worked he picked up the baby and made supper if I laid it out for him with directions (sometimes he took a nap before he got the child)...played on the internet...pays bills and sometimes does dishes and yard work...he does distract the kids if I need a nap or need quiet to do work and if I ask he will watch them if I need to go somewhere...He is a great Father and supports and backs me up when I need it and if I ask he will help and he obviously loves us.....
