I think it could be a good thing if Damon pulls away from Elena. If he's available to her all the time, she'll just take him for granted. If she values their friendship, she won't let him go. It could be a wake-up call for her. And the 'predator/prey' statement didn't bother me: it reminded me of Edward and Bella in 'Twilight'!
