coz there is the whole 'if they die I die' thing and the enemy thingy too but there are some bits that aren't romeo and julietty like the shape-shifter werewolfs and the vampires and that it is an american high school romance with a difference that turns into a lifestyle!

The premise of Romeo and Juliet is of two feuding families who learn a cruel lesson when their hatred results in the deaths of their children. I consider it to be more of a tragedy than a romance. Although there are obstacles for Edward and Bella, I don't consider them to be 'star-crossed lovers'.

^Along with that, R & J is about two stupid teens who do something stupid for lust and end up worse off for it.

Only New moon.

It wasn't meant to be completely parallel. It only adopted the "I"d die without you" aspect.
And the way Edward's suicide attempt came about.
Edward thought Bella killed herself, so he tried to kill himself.
Romeo thought Juliette dies, so he succeeded in killing himself.

But that's it.

Romeo and Juliet was written to mock silly teenage love whereas Twilight glorifies it.

Some parallels in the romance itself:
-Began because one party though the other was good looking
-Extreme co-dependancy/ "I'd die without you!"
-Lust not love
But I don't consider Bella and Edward to be star-crossed lovers. Nothing's stopping them from falling in love.
