On the episode "Revelations", is this a big mistake that Reid and JJ split-up while tracking Tobias Hankel?

I think it was a bad idea for them to teilt, split up because Reid wasn't exactly trained to do combat when encountering an unsub , his nerves ways got the better of him but then again if it weren't for them splitting up it would've taken the team a little longer to catch Tobias . I say well done SSA DR. SPENCER REID (**,).
