This was really hard to phrase... I'm thinking specifically about religious fundamentalism in the US, first of all. I also remembered what twelve-year-old Shane Botwin from Weeds said to his uncle, after spending a few days at a Christian summer camp:

"Can you convince mom that I'm better off sitting at home all summer than stuck in a classroom full of religious zealots proselytizing a form of fundamentalism that's two clicks away from Jihad?"

It's bad in any religion in my opinion. Last night I watched a documentary on Halloween and it showed how some fundamentalist Christians use the holiday to show their children plays of demonic possession if they sin and a woman going to hell for having an abortion.

Yup. They're called Hell Houses. They're interesting. Kind of funny, if executed poorly (I know from experience) ;o)

Yes, I went once because they had one at a church near my dorm a few years ago. I wasn't so much scared as I was amused.

It IS a hard question to phrase. I think I know what you're getting at, but what do you mean by fundamentalism? Merriam-Webster has two definitions, and one clearly doesn't apply as it is specific to a particular religion, but the other "an attitude stressing strict and literal adherence to a set of basic principles" seems synonymous with religion itself as "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith". The question thus seems to be: "is any form of religion bad?"

This is why I ask for your definition, because I don't think that's what you intended to ask.

I believe we always have to place our humanity before our religion.

Depends on what you mean by 'fundamentalism.' And, even then, it varies by religion. Christian fundamentalism is all about reading the all of Bible literally. But that's not possible with some religions, like the Hellenic or Norse religions, because we don't have anything like the Bible to read literally.
