there's no particular reason. that's just how the character of chandler was written (even before actors were chosen for the part). Chandler is written as sarcastic, effeminate, & a semi-loser. But I must say, chandler wasn't convincing as an effeminate loser cos he's just so handsome, funny & intelligent
