I'm a Cangel, so I think their friendship was more of a realistic poem, while Bangel was a tragic one.

I think Bangel was technically more poetic with the whole forbidden love I-had-to-kill-my-boyfriend stuff. I mean, I-finally-discovered-that-I-love-my-best-f­rie­nd-­and­-th­en-­she­-be­cam­e-p­oss­ess­ed-­and­-ga­ve-­bir­th-
to-an-evil-goddess-and-died just wouldn't be quite as poetic, hehe. But that's really why I'm a Cangel fan. Angel and Cordy's love was built on something real. It wasn't about frills and love at first sight and wild physical attraction, it was based on years of trust and friendship, and being there for each other, and while it wasn't necessarily as poetic, I felt it and believed it much more than I did his relationship with Buffy.

Ok... the only reason I picked Cangel is because I like Friendship poems and to me that's what they're considered. As Bangel are considered under love at first sight-- They both are basically under Poem category. I mean They both have something to offer. and also Giles pointed out that Vampire in love with a Slayer very poetic... so point there for Bangel -- but also love is blinding. and Cangel hits a shot there... so yeah frienship and true... they both have their own poems and stories. :D

Bangel without a question. There was an almost epic quality to their relationship that isn't equalled by any other pairing in the Buffyverse in my opinion. I am a Bangel fan through and through - I like Cangel, within its limitations, because I love both the characters and thought their friendship was great: funny, sweet, realistic - but I prefer them as friends than as a couple. And while I appreciate the fact that Angel needed a love interest on his own show, and appreciate what Cangel brought to the show, I think Bangel will always transcend Cangel, and any other relationship either Buffy or Angel has. Joss said so himself, and I agree. I think that Angel cared about Cordy a lot, and vice versa, but nobody will ever replace Buffy in his heart or equal what she means to him. The dream sequence in the episode where the shaman removes Angel's soul backs this up, but it was obvious anyway. That's not to say Angel & Cordy didn't love each other, they did, but it was different and not as powerful as Bangel. And I don't agree that Bangel was 'love at first sight' at all. It's true that there was a chemistry, an attraction, between them from their first meeting, but it wasn't love, and I don't think the fact that they were attracted to each other from the start remotely 'weakens' their love. They grew to love each other over almost two years, because they fought side by side, learnt to rely on and trust one another, and became friends, just like Angel & Cordy. The only difference is that Bangel had an initial attraction, which didn't surface for Cangel for much longer, but that doesn't mean Bangel was less realistic! It is very possible to be attracted to someone on first meeting them, to feel a spark between you, and not all relationships develop after years and years of friendship, some are just more intense than that: the friendship builds quicker because there is an immediate connection, and then develops into something more later.

bangel with the whole forbidden love thing while cangel had a different kind of love that grew over time through different many levels: friendship, comrades, confide to each other, and somewhere along the lines: love...where spike also said to BOTH angel and buffy that they NEVER will be friends, yes bangel loved each other and it was true, beautiful, painful, etc but cangel was too in its own way.

I think of poetry as beautiful and there wasn't a lot of beauty in the bangel relationship. Just pain and forced romance.

ummn...well you can write a poem about anything - so no matter your perspective on bangel or cangel, their relationships can always be poetic (they just might be positive or negative).

but i guess if i think about the kinds of poetry i love....its deep and emotional and meaningful...it's about love that is like blood racing through your veins forcing your heart to pump (i guess it's a weird analogy since we are talking about a vampire whose heart doesn't pump...). the love poems i have read manage to capture the feeling of wanting so badly to be with the person you love and constantly needing to be in their presence, yet feeling so overwhelmed by your emotions that your feelings become almost unbearable. its love at its most true and most pure. like buffy and angel :-D

a poem for angel and cordelia in my opinion would be more about friendship...it would be a funny poem...not a deep romantic poem...

CANGEL is m fave !!! I'm so luck to have fallen in love with my best friend!!! Beautiful.. more love stories should be like that.

Though I prefer Cangel. I think this is the reason I hate Bangel so much - they're *too* poetic and predictable, (so is the Twilight Edward/Bella crap). Spuffy and Cangel were unpredictable and exciting. Can't say the same for Bangel.

As the fabulously wise Giles once said, "A vampire in love with a slayer, it's rather poetic...in a maudlin sort of way." Buffy and Angel's love was beautifully tragic and so real it was disarming. HMKO: Edward and Bella are lackluster and uninspiring. To compare Bangel to them is a travesty in itself.

I suppose Bangel's love story was very poetic, but I preferred the Cangel story better, not to mention its much more tragic.

It is very poetic. impossible love becomes possible. Vampire in love with a Slayer, Slayer in love with a vampire. To me an instant pick.
