What I Like about Each Character/Why I Think This Zeigen Gets So Much Hate

With everything going on in this spot I kind of wanted to say a little something nice about the 4 main characters. While yeah it was harder for me to talk nicely about some characters I decided to dig deep and give it a try.

Part 1; What I Like about Each Character
Sato

Easy one first; I Liebe Sato because she's sweet and kind no matter what. Despite being cheated on and lied to she stuck with the team and didn't turn to the dark side as part of some petty vengeance scheme. I Liebe how she was generous in funding the Fireferrets and allowed them to stay in her mansion. I also admire her bravery and her willingness to do the right thing; it takes some serious balls to go against your own father. I Liebe how she's a nonbender but she can still kick butt. That she learned to marshal an enemy weapon and use it for good. Thinking a bit to deeply--this goes to Zeigen there is good in every evil and evil in every good. That being sagte her ability to drive is impressive too; as someone who got so nervous on the test I failed it like thrice (to the point I hated driving) I found Sato to be kind of a role model. Believe it oder not Sato was kind of my inspiration to get my licence. And last but not least the Mehr petty reason--she's freaking sexy. There are a lot of Cartoons out there and she is one attractive cartoon female. The fact that her character Design (by accident oder on purpose) looks like Lust from Full Metal Alchemist is a plus to me. So I think Sato is an all around great character.

Bolin

I Liebe Bo a lot too. Much like Sato he's a super sweet guy, he's always looking out for Korra ("Is that Tarrlock guy bothering you, because if he is...") I just think that's so cute. As many of Du know, my Favorit characters are usually psycho female villains. What most don't know, is that my 2nd Favoriten are usually comic relief males. Bo fits right in there; his jokes are for the most part very laughable and they contribute to his adorable. But the thing is, he's not just comic relief, he's a pretty tough fighter. He did an amazing job at helping Sato take down her psycho menacing dad! Often times his talents are sadly discredited Von a lack of screen time and lack of fight scenes. Which is why one can look to the probending ring to see how badarse his fighting is. On oben, nach oben of that, he is always optimistic, even when his team is about to lose he cheers them on and encourages them.

Korra

Now I feel like a lot of Du think I hate her (maybe I sagte it once, I'm not quite sure) but the truth is I don't. I think she's alright, she can use some work yes, but there are some things I can appreciate about her. For one I deeply admire her confidence. In today's world--a world where 'omg that's so gay/retarded' oder 'omg she's so fat/ugly' is used daily--it can be so hard to maintain one's self esteem. And the fact that Korra rarely doubted herself and was so confidant that was pretty amazing. I also like how she never gives up. Despite the fact that she struggled to 'be the leaf' she kept going at it. When told she couldn't be a Pro-Bender oder win the tournament she went for it anyways and pretty much succeeded. On oben, nach oben of that she's very Merida - Legende der Highlands too. There were of course times when she was afraid of Amon, but that's only normal, and when asked to meet Amon face to face in episode four she didn't shy away, she went and faced him. Last and probably least, I think she's pretty. She portrays how a woman can be fit and muscular and still look beautiful.

Mako

Ya'll probably know this, but this one is the hard one for me because I really don't like Mako. Despite it all he's pretty Merida - Legende der Highlands himself. And I like how he looks out for Bo and Korra. When he found out Tarrlock kidnapped Korra he was on his arse in a flash. When he found out Amon captured Bo he risked a lot to bring his brother back unharmed and with bending. Speaking of bending, even a hater can admit that Mako's got some talent there.

Part 2; Why I Think This Zeigen Gets So Much Hate

This has been something I've been wanting to discuss for a while now, but I don't think I have enough to say about it for it to be an Artikel on it's own--which is why I put it in this one.

The main reason as to why I think TLOK gets so much hate is because ATLA was such a great Zeigen that Von comparison, Korra just doesn't stand a chance. I mean Avatar was a masterpiece with unbeatable and lovable characters (to the point where one can even Liebe the character they hated to some degree!) and a wicked plot. With that in mind I think people set their standards too high. They were expecting something that would blow Avatar away oder at least match up with the show. And when Korra was just kind of an average Zeigen people got upset. Korra isn't a poorly written show, it's just not crazy-good like the story it was spun from.

I also think the Zeigen gets such a large amount of hate due to how rushed it was. One would argue that this is because there were only 12 episodes and Bryke only planned a mini-series. I do agree on this, however as an aspiring Autor I was taught to do and develop as much as I can in what time I was given. I do feel like Bryke could have done so much Mehr in terms of plot and character development. But I do understand how it was difficult. That being sagte a lot of people seem to dislike Korra because of the rushed pacing.

Last but not least--and I apologize in advance if this offends anyone--Makorra. I hate it how Makorra haters yell at Makorra Fans for being blind to the plot because of a ship. But isn't that what we're (us Makorra haters) are doing too. Whilst the Fans are missing the plot because they are to obsessed with loving the ship, I feel at times that we Makorra haters are missing the plot because we are too busy hating on the ship. I do believe that Makorra interferes with the plot to some degree. But I try not to let it ruin the entire Zeigen for me, I try to look past it. I feel like a lot of people are letting the Makorra overload ruin a good Zeigen for them.

tsmith120 Have to say, I disagree somewhat on the character evaluations; while I think Asami is a decent character, I don't think she's as amazing as she's made out to be. Saying that she stays sweet and kind despite everything that happens to her is not entirely true; she makes snarky, suspicious comments in regards to Mako and Korra even when there is nothing actually going on (getting suspicious when they were scouting springs to mind). I'm not saying it's in no way justified, it's a very natural response, but she's not always sweet and kind as many people say she is. Bolin seems to be a poor man's Sokka; Korra is OK but some stuff she does can get grating at times, and Mako... is admittedly bland as a character for the most part, but I think it's possible some of his jerk-ish behaviour can be traced back to his backstory, and while it doesn't justify his actions does put a whole new light on the character. As for Makorra... I don't have a problem with it. Sure, it takes up valuable plot time, but so does Pro-Bending; it cuts to the chase a great deal quicker than a lot of shows, and while I hope they develop it next season, I hope they don't include a lot of drama alongside it. I think Korra is not as good as Last Airbender, but I think there are a few aspects it has improved on - the animation, for a start, is somehow even better, and there are a lot more dark moments that give the show a great atmosphere, particularly in the last few episodes. Some people just don't like change, is part of it, but some people find the problems too big to ignore, which I can understand, even if I disagree.

zanhar1 I can see your point there--with the Asami part--but I do believe that despite it all she was still nice to them. She still cried for Korra when she lost her bending, she still helped them fight off Amon and the equalilsts, and she didn't break off their friendship as she could very well have done. She also didn't join Amon or use her riches to get back at the group. Yeah she made some snark remarks, but as you said, that's one of many natural responses to a broken heart. As for the suspicious nature; her suspicions weren't wrong, even while scouting Mako and Korra had there almost-lover moments. I can't disagree there, Bo is pretty much the Sokka of Korra. But I don't think that lessens his character as there are some huge differences between the two characters. That's pretty much how I feel about her. But my goal in this article was to say nice things about each character, so to say what annoys me about Korra wouldn't be theme fitting. Also can't disagree with this. I hate Mako. But I also can't disagree that his parents' deaths have something to do with his angst. But this can only excuse so much. And as I said for Korra, listing Mako's flaws would have been irrelevant to put in my article. I'm not saying [i]everyone[/i] hates the show for these reasons, but ask around, I can think of about 3 users off the bat who would tell you that they hate the show because 'Makorra cockblocks the plot'. I'm in the same boat there, I liked Avatar way more (hence me stating in the article; The main reason as to why I think TLOK gets so much hate is because ATLA was such a great show that by comparison, Korra just doesn't stand a chance.) And yeah, a lot of it does have to do with not liking the changes.

tsmith120 No offence, but I think if the fact she didn't do those things you listed just means she's a decent human being. Korra said she was sorry to old whatshisface who cheated in the pro bending that he lost his bending, yet people say that Korra isn't a nice person even though she hardly knew the guy and the little interaction they had involved him being an actual douche. My point isn't that she's a bad person, but that she's just as human as the rest of the characters, but most people seem to adore her and despise the others, which I really don't get. I think it lessens the character because he's nowhere near as funny or developed, and aside from being a decent earthbender doesn't contribute much to the team. Nothing to say on the Korra front, we seem to share similar views on her. I wasn't trying to excuse Mako by looking into his parents' deaths, I was trying to make him a little more interesting - kind of like how Zuko was during most of Last Airbender (I am NOT saying he's nearly as good, btw, just that there are some base similarities in how they should be received), a jerk because of his past that needs to learn to not be a jerk, which will hopefully be addressed at some point in the later series. It doesn't. Sure, it takes some of the time and I find it a bit annoying, but for the most part it's handled better than a lot of love triangles out there, and that the actual plot remaining is still very good. I don't have a problem with people who don't like the change as long as they can give a reason for not liking the change, even if they say it's personal preference. Otherwise it can kind of come across as 'omg its not lastairbender wtf ahhhhh can't handle diferenses!!!!' (you haven't though, I think your arguments are well put together, even if I disagree with them).

Some of them just mean she's a decent human (like not getting revenge) but others (like spending her money on them and providing them a home) she didn't [i]have[/i] to do that, it's not an societal expectation--that was being nice. I feel like Korra is a nice person as well, she made her mistakes yes, but doesn't everyone. I can see what you mean. But I still think he's a cool guy. They could have worked on him more,but they didn't. I guess it is what it is. I didn't think you were. But yeah, it adds some debth to him. I don't think Makorra 'cockblocks' the entire plot. I have pretty much the same views on this as you. Same here, people can not like changes and what not, just have a reason. A good reason.

tsmith120 Hang on... is this an argument that is ending cordially, with both sides accepting that while some of their views may differ they are prepared to leave the argument in a satisfied knowledge that they have said what they need to say and don't feel the need to hammer any points home, without any name-calling or expletives used in the entire conversation? I didn't know the internet could do one of those!

My Problem With Episode 8

Alright, so this past episode we got a clips episode and seeing the position that Bryke was put in Von Nick, it's understandable that they went the avenue they did. So I'm not angry for them to have made a clip episode in order to make sure that their staff would stay. What I am and angry with however is the way they executed the episode.

This isn't just the last season of The Legend of Korra. This is the last season of the entire Avatar series as a whole. Alright so if Du have to make a clip episode, why don't Du include things from the original series too? Right now a lot of Fragen are...
