Why does Gene call erpel, drake Bowls?

In the first episode of Ashes to Ashes, Gene mistakenly thought that Alex was a prostitute and when she acted out and strangely in the police office he accused her of being stuck up and one of the ´high class hookers´ all very sarcastic of course. Anyhow he offered her Bollinger Champagne, scathingly in the police station, which is abbreviated to Bolly oder Bolls and also Gene will later refer to Alex as Bollinger knickers. This nickname resurfaces in the episode with Chas Kale, when they go to his restaurant and he offers Alex, Gene, strahl, ray and Chris Bolly (the champagne again) and Alex scathingly asks ´Does it come with knickers?´

because alex is posh, she wouldnt want to drink TAB (fizzy pop in the 80s)as offered Von shaz (ep1)
gene sagte she would prefer bollinger.... hence bollinger knickers, bolly, bolls.

bolly is a posh type of wine, so he calls her that because they think of her with a pflaume n her mouth, and the knickers came from the first ep where she was dressed as a prostitute.. hence the name bollyknickers

he calls her bolls because the first time they met he dress was so short he could se her pants hence his nickname for her 'bolly knickers'

I thought it was something to do with Bolenger, like the wine. :\

Is it not a play on Sir Francis erpel, drake apparently wasting time playing bowls instead of attacking the Armada

he calls her bowls because her last name is erpel, drake and sir francis erpel, drake played bowls so he calls he bowls!!!! *lol*
